Humorous. lighthearted & endearing...great passion, too!, 4 Aug 2007

I really loved every character in this book, there just aren't any not to like, which is rare for almost any book on the market. Even the people who at first seemed threatening ended up being likeable. This is a wonderful talent that the author Kelly Hunter has, to make the best of any character and their situation. Her wit is *wonderful* and can't be beat.
The main characters are Nick and Hallie. Nick is trying to close a major deal in Hong Kong, but the man he is directly working with has a very forward daughter that will not leave him alone, yet he must not offend either her or her father-or he risks losing this deal. He happens across Hallie, and fate works at throwing them together into a "business deal" in which she plays the role of his wife for 1 week, in order to fund her college fees.
Let the passion begin! The way these 2 try to deny their feelings for each other are at times comical, others endearing, and teasingly passionate. This book is a real page-turner, and I am hoping I'm right in guessing that there will be more to follow with the introduction of Hallie's hunky brother, Tristian. She has 3 more brothers, too :)
I don't like to give away storylines, so pls forgive me if this doesn't give you all the info you would like. I will say that the characters are kind to each other, and this is a "feel good" book without losing any of the drama...because oh boy, there is drama! Just wait until you read about Hallie's shopping trip...lol!
Great job, Kelly Hunter...you are now an esteemed member of my "Favorite Authors" list, which I don't add to very often. I can't wait to read your next book, and hope it is soon.

You won't be able to contain the laughter., 24 April 2011

I'm writing my first Amazon review because I absolutely adored this book. I'll skip the summary since the product description and the other reviewers covered that.
The writing is of fairly good quality and Nick and Hallie are nice, likable characters. But what's unexpected is the author's use of humor to tell their story. Some of the scenes and dialogue had me laughing out loud (and not my indoor laugh), but it was all done naturally.
The story, itself, is sweet. No tragedies or horrible misunderstandings for this couple. A light-hearted read that happens to be the most hilarious Harlequin Presents I've encountered. I'm looking forward to the second book in the Bennett Family series.
