Millionaire rancher Jack Remington hadn't expected trouble when he flew to Palm Beach for his sister's engagement ball. But his girlfriend called it quits and now his sister is anxious to meet the woman who's captured his heart. Then, a beguiling, flame-haired enchantress breezes into his hotel room with a tux and a seductive smile, and Jack's sure his troubles have come to an end. All he has to do is hire the beautiful tailor to be his fiancee--for just one night.

Samantha Jones is sure the sexy cowboy is out of his ever--lovin' mind. She's never been to a ball, never worn a fancy gown, and has no idea how to act like a socialite. She can't possibly pose as his wife-to-be. But trouble's been following Sam for too many months and the money Jack's offering is something she can't refuse. There's only one problem--their pretend kisses make her feel something very real--and there's the possibility that just one night will never be enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Read!!!! 26 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I laughed, I cried, I did not want this book to end!!!! I was pleasantly surprised that the author was able to develop her characters so well in such a short, fast paced read. This is my first Patti Berg book and it will not be the last. I now have a new "favorite" author. Patti--please consider writing Mike Flynn's story!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Contemporary romance the way it should be written 22 July 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
When her beloved mother died, Samantha Jones seeks funds to provide a proper burial. She meets rejection until she turns to Johnnie Russo for the cash. The loan shark informs his newest client that his late fee includes broken bones and a flowing crimson tide. Sam works two jobs and sleeps in her car.

When Sam receives a call from wealthy Jack Remington that he needs his tux altered, she tries to pass the message on to her employer. Already angry with her for sleeping on the job, he fires Sam. Desperate, she steals a sewing machine and travels to the Remington Ranch in quest of a much needed tip.

Jack loves his sister so much he does not want to spoil her engagement party with the news that his girl friend just left him. Jack offers a large sum of money to Sam to pretend she is his fiancee. She thinks he is a lunatic, but needing the money, she agrees. That one night stand soon turns into several days as complications keep arising. As they continue their ruse, Jack and Sam fall in love. However, will either one recognize that love has turned the scam on them.

WIFE FOR A DAY is an entertaining, non-stop romp that leaves readers seeking more of the passionate yet lighthearted tales from Patti Berg. The lead protagonists are a witty duo bouncing from one crisis to another. Readers will especially empathize with Sam who deals with elderly care and a proper funeral for a loved one. Ms. Berg provides contemporary romance readers with a droll but touching romantic tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Berg Hit! 27 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have read all of Patti Berg's books -- and loved each and everyone. Though this one marked a departure from her usual time travels, it didn't disappoint one bit. Way to go, Patti! When's the next one due?
