Product Description

Wacky American road-trip comedy. After being humiliated and losing his girlfriend on the daytime 'Dr.Dwayne Show', Joel's (Fran Kranz) life falls apart. Rescued by his friends Wyatt and Ben (Kenan Thompson and Zachary Levi), the dynamic trio set off on a road-trip across America, handing out free hot-dogs from Wyatt's homemade hot-dog van, in the hope that it will result in Wyatt finding a job in the industry. Making their way to LA, and a final reckoning with 'Dr Dwayne' (Darrell Hammond), they stumble into many weird and wild adventures, encountering the usual raft of seriously odd characters.

Synopsis

After Joel is humiliated (Fran Kranz) on national television by talk show therapist Dr. Dwayne (Darrell Hammond, Epic Movie), he falls into a depressed state. His three friends attempt to cheer him up by going on a cross-country road trip in a wiener-wagon to beat up Dr. Dwayne and encounter a number of eccentric characters along the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars A tasty morsel 22 Feb 2013
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you're a fan of Fran Kranz, Zachary Levi, or Kenan Thompson, you will enjoy this film. The three guys vibe off each other really well, their dialogue is quick and pithy, and the physical humour is well played. (And if you just like Levi for his looks, there's quite a treat in store for you.)

The heart of the movie is the journey of three friends and there is actually a really sweet (and funny) moment in the film when their friendship is tested, and one friend does whatever it takes to heal the rift. However the film is far from sentimental. It's fast paced and packed with jokes. The humour is silly, the plot takes some bizarre turns, and of course some of the jokes are a little cliched. But, it's all really good fun. And there are even a few fresh gags in there (as someone who watches a lot of this type of film I am impressed when I see a joke I haven't before).

It's a wiener, not a chef's special, so it probably won't fill you with satisfaction. But it is definitely one fun and tasty morsel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ottawa Citizen review of "Wieners" 8 Jun 2008
By Charlie - Published on Amazon.com

Wieners Rating 3 out of 4 stars

While the idea of three men taking a road trip in a Wienermobile may not sound all that appealing, there's more than rubber meeting the road and mustard meeting the meat in this surprisingly funny effort featuring Fran Kranz, Kenan Thompson and Zachary Levi.

After being humiliated by a Dr. Phil-styled TV shrink, Joel (Kranz) decides he's going to get even. With his buddies by his side, they venture off with a quest for justice, but find it's not easy to make people listen when there's a giant wiener in the picture. Definitely stupid, but thanks to some sweet buddy moments, this movie steers away from the typically silly genre moments and finds some original flavour.

DVD features are sadly lacking on this disc, but there is a Thai dub -- in addition to Spanish, French and Portuguese ones.

2.0 out of 5 stars WIENERS IS STUPID FUN, BUT RUNS OUT OF GAS IN THE LAST ACT! 2 1/2 STARS! 9 May 2011

I like stupid movies and I like the stars of this film. 'Wieners is just stupid enough to keep those who enjoy these mindless crude humor films interested, but it is ultimately forgettable. If you like fast food fun films try Kenan Thompson's 'Good Burger' instead. It's funnier that this film and I'll take a burger over a "wiener" any day of the week! ;-b

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG! Totally LMAO! 23 Jun 2010

This movie is hilarious. I actually was thinking it was going to be stupid but I seriously laughed my butt off watching it and movies like this one usually don't make me laugh, they usually make me disgusted. But this was actually funny, and not so distasteful that I was disgusted by the content. All in all, Zachary Levi was perfection as always. He just has a way of making every scene he is in seem completely organic. He holds the entire movie together.
