Great for PC, Mac Mini, and Playstation 3, 5 Jan 2008
Firstly let me confess that I am not very knowledgable when it comes to monitors and how they display colours etc, but from an average consumer's point of view I find the screen to be nice and evenly bright with natural looking colours, in the past I have owned laptops from Advent, HP, Acer, and previous to this a desktop monitor from Samsung and this HP w2207h is the best out of all of them, I particularly like the eveness of the backlight. There are four preset modes - Movie, Photo, Gaming, Text, as well as a custom option.
The monitor is on a hinged base so can be easily raised or lowered but the base does have a large foot print though the base does have a keyboard rest if space is limited.
There are also two USB sockets on the left side which are handy but they are not recessed so if you use them then you will have unsightly USB plugs sticking out from the side.
One of the selling points for me is the HDMI input, I have a Mac Mini so I use a DVI to HDMI cable to plug it into the monitor. I also have a Playstation 3 and this works great with the monitor except when the PS3 is set to 1080i, the picture is very flicky, but thankfully the monitor does 1080p excellently. I have read that 1080p doesn't look any better on smaller screens but I have noticed that text is so much sharper at 1080p than it is at 720p, but games still look great at 720p, but games that support 1080p do look sharper. This monitor is not suitable for 1080i but that's a minor point when most games currently run at 720p and you have the ability to display 1080p for games and films that support that resolution.
The inbuilt speakers are only passable, they are ok for YouTube and streaming radio, but for serious listening you will need external speakers. They are just about good enough for PS3 gaming if you don't have your PS3 linked to external speakers.

Brightly standing out from the crowd, 4 Dec 2007
I bought this monitor to complete my lounge media centre and am definitely not disapointed. Choice was either this one or the samsung 226bw. I chose this one because of the superbly counterbalanced height adjustment and the rotating screen (although I haven't found a use for it yet). Admittedly the rising screen does leave a slightly bigger than normal footprint but it's still smaller than my Antec Fusion case which it stands on.
It's bit confusing that I cannot select exactly the right display settings from my graphics processor but I've selected close to the right size and everything looks fine. I guess that installing a compatible graphics card will be the next stage.
The software cd installation menu is a bit crappy but so long as you eventually get everything loaded you should be all right. Documentation is non-existant.
The rear facing speakers are inadequate for a room-facing tv set-up but are loud enough (although not hi-fi) for a desk-based system. Comes with all necessary leads. Handy Usb hub built in as well.
Hope this isn't too critical but it helps to make a choice if you know some of the drawbacks. I cannot say loud enough that the screen as a design looks fabulous and as a monitor as well. If you buy one make sure it's the 2207h not the inferior 2207v.

I was going to buy the samsung pebble 22" monitor, right up until i went to view it at PC World. It was horrible, no height adjustment, the stand wobbled everywhere and the overall screen was horrible. I then saw this. It was such good quality, best there.
I received one of these for christmas. First thing is, ITS HUGE. It looks awesome and is fully height adjustable so really comfortable to use. The stand is so stable it doesnt move at all. I purchased a EXTERNAL TV BOX for it so i can watch freeview tv and use my laptop at the same time without using the monitor.
The screen is HD although not listed as its not a TV, but is of the same quality. It has a glossy screen similar to the macbook screen. It doesnt reflect at all. It faces my window and i have no problem with it.
It has VGA and HDMI connectors which isnt a problem. My laptop is VGA and works fine, such high quality that a DVI would look no different on such a size. The HDMI is good for future use when thats all avaliable and for HD tv.
All in all, there is nothing wrong with this screen. Its perfect quality/resolution and price. So dont hesitate about buying it!! :)
