This group of women, all professionals in the church, were encouraged to "examine their inner landscapes" and put their reflections in writing. What editor Carol Henderson assembled is a group of essays describing each writer's faith journey. They are emotional, heartrending, funny, and honest. They also demonstrate that the path to God is not always direct; there often are detours and wrong turns. But the Holy Spirit straightens them out, and reminds them that the journey is unending. I found each of these lives made engrossing reading. Each writer demonstrates the often difficult ability to put her joys, aspirations, and disappointments into words. At the end of each essay there is a list of prompts for the reader to turn writer, offering the book as a guide for a writing group. I liked reading just one essay at a time, giving me time to mull over the insights I received for that day. If you enjoy reading about what makes another person "tick", this is a good read for you.
