I have to admit that I was reluctant to buy this album at first due to the fact that it only contains 4 songs. But I thought that I would as I was trying to purchase the entire U2 back catalogue. Having now completed this task, I can absolutely garuantee that if you like U2 and you buy this album, you will not be disappointed. The 4 songs are all entirely different but each one is well worth the money. 'Bad' is always brilliant live and here is as good as any version. I didn't like 'A sort of Homecoming' before I heard this version and now it's one of my fave songs. 'Three Suns Rising' is a bit more upbeat and funky but is still a good track, but the pick of the album for me has to be 'Love Comes Tumbling'. I made an album of my fave songs for a friend and I included two U2 songs. Out of 176 U2 songs that I know of, I picked 'Love Comes Tumbling' and 'In a Little While'. I don't even know how best to describe this song, but it is fantastic. Part with your money immediately!

This mini Album manages to take one of U2's best studio songs and improve it, not often done with a live performance. BAD, the haunting ballad best remembered as their fianle at Live Aid is captured here in all its glory. (The only other version to do it this much justice being on the Rattle and Hum video). A Sort of Homecoming displays Bono's vocal ability perfectly and takes a good studio song and makes it better by increasing its tempo. The two previously unreleased songs also capture the essence of the Unforgetable Fire album, still my personal favourite. The only thing preventing me giving this 5 stars is the lack of more live songs such as Pride and The Unforgetable Fire on the CD. I originally owned this mini LP on vinyl but the CD is well worth the price if only for the opening few bars to BAD.

Wide awake is a short, sharp mini-album with 2 nice live songs & 2 new songs. A Sort Of Homecoming is particularly good - overall this album is good.

I have spent the last few weeks looking through Amazon and have realised there is a UK site!!! No wonder 99% of the reviewers were American!!!
Wide Awake In America
Amazing...
Bad is always a great live track. This version is well defined and smooth compared to Live Aid, yet still packs that punch.
A Sort Of Homecoming - For those who dont read U2 books then let me burst the bubble for you. This version was recorded at soundcheck. The crowd was put on after. Still, its a great track and gives you a clearer picture of the song. The original is on a par but very different. The unfocused becomes focused if you like.
Three Sunrises - I used to love this track (and still do) and had a great time watching them record it on the Unforgettable Fire video.
Love Comes Tumbling - Bono in real Bono vocal mode. So many people tried to emulate this style and still do - see Baby Bird. I have a version of this with different lyrics which is very weird.
Overall, a great EP and an absolute must for that U2 collection.
Cheers...

I'm a big U2 fan. I like all their music. There is something about the sound they captured onthe Unforgettable Fire tour that captures my imagination. Songs like Bad and A Sort of Homecoming are great live tracks. But I came across a couple of B sides called Love Comes Tumbling and Three Sunrises. How these didnt make the actual album I dont know but they hold their own very well Ive played Love Comes Tumbling a lot over the last 25 years. No one does/did B sides quite like them (other than the Beatles).
