Book Description

1 Sep 2012
Based on her wildly popular Huffington Post article one of the site s most-viewed of all time Why You re Not Married... Yet dishes out straightforward, no-holds-barred practical and proven advice for women hoping to head down the aisle or just have a great relationship. With sisterly insight, razor-sharp wit, and refreshing candour, McMillan points out the things that might be in your blind spot: unhelpful attitudes, behaviours, and beliefs so easy to identify in others, much more difficult to see in yourself. Then she shows you how to adjust them to get the relationship you deserve. And with advice like stop acting like a dude and casual sex is like casual heroin use she ll make you laugh out loud along the way. Why You re Not Married... Yet isn t so much about getting a husband as it is about shifting your perspective on being a wife. Here s a funny, insightful guide to becoming a more loving woman and creating a more loving marriage even if you re already partnered. It s a book that will change your life and the way you think about relationships, and it may very well lead you down the aisle. Published September 2012 in the UK.

Review

Advance praise for "Why You're Not Married . . . Yet"

""Why You're Not Married . . . Yet" is funny, smart, and so, so true. Equal parts BFF, boot-camp instructor, and relationship guru, Tracy McMillan will change the way you think about yourself and your relationships. This book is for every woman out there who wants to have a great marriage."--Ricki Lake

"Tracy McMillan is a hero and visionary. Through her book I realized about myself things people I pay a lot of money have been trying to tell me for years: that I'm a bitch, a slut, a mess, and that I hate myself. She gives solutions on how to heal, grow, and get what you want in life in a funny, inspiring, personal and very rare way. This book is an empowering way to take control of your life and become the person you want to be. So basically, she shows you how to be the opposite of me."--Actress and comedian Whitney Cummings

"As someone who has been married for twelve years, I love to give advice to my single girlfriends. Now, thanks to having read this book, I'm actually qualified to give it." --Heather McDonald, regular on "Chelsea Lately" and bestselling author of "You'll Never Blue Ball in This Town Again"

This book is the most insightful I have ever read. I'm 41 and single, and having finished the book, I know exactly why and how to change things. There are alot of home truths in here, but they are presented in a gentle and mostly hilarious way. Every chapter describes my behaviour to a tee, from, does he have to be a certain height with a certain wage packet, to don't show him the crazy!! Don't send 17 texts cause he didn't call. You know who you are!!! Well well worth a read. I bought it for the kindle, but have bought the hard back so that I can go backwards and forwards in the future. A fun matter of fact read.

Tracy McMillan's Why You're Not Married Yetis very insightful and very entertaining. In a world where women are increasingly assertive in public affairs while expected to balance those with motherhood and wifehood, this book comes as a welcome navigational tool in the different routes to find partnership and happiness. Tracy Mcmillan's book was suggested to me with The Oaf (Things Happen), by a friend who thought they provided unique perspectives. He was right. The writing is evocative, descriptive and smooth.

A breath of fresh air and up front approach!
she's the sister, mother, friend in the way she writes, you read it and ok not all chapters may resonate with you but don't skip them.
After reading this and not actually realising it, I am now in a relationship that is going really, really well.
Not who I thought I would be with, and by that I mean he's sensitive, loving and complimentary because he wants to be and not because he feels he has to be, sweet, and everything I know should be part of a loving relationship but in the past i have attracted the wrong kind of partner this is one of the points of this book...quit thinking of 'who' you imagine you will hook up with and allow your softer side to come through, for yourself more than anything, take the fortress down from around your heart, even if it doesn't work out, no-one has ever died from a broken heart (ok, maybe Taggart)!!

I read it in one sitting outside in the summer, I loved it. Enjoy.
