Lissie - "When I'm Alone" - Live

Biography

It would be easy to misconstrue Lissie. Slight and blonde, a pretty, guitar-playing slip-of-a-thing, you might easily take her for a sweet Midwestern girl, a freckled balladeer borne of milk and cookies and cornfields. More fool you. For all the flaxen hair and big blue eyes, this girl is smart and gutsy and tough, with a big old voice to match it: Stevie Nicks taking Neko Case by the scruff of… Read more in Amazon's Lissie Store

You Must Buy This 23 Jan 2010
Format:MP3 Download|Amazon Verified Purchase
I stumbled across this when Amazon were doing a promotion on the track Little Lovin' and because i liked it so much I checked out the other songs on preview and knew I just had to buy it! If it wasn't for Amazon I wouldn't even know about this artist, and it is such a shame because I bet there are so many people out there, especially fans of Duffy, Mazzy Star, Dido, KT Tunstall etc who would just love this like I do, I don't know why she isn't well known and why we don't see her music on the MTV channels or hear her on the radio. Her music is country/pop but ever so ambient so it's different to all the mainstream nonsense out there, the album cover is so suited to the feel of the album, warm summer evenings... it's just such a lush album and what a voice too, the lyrics are really heartfelt I think so many people could relate to her songs. My favs are 'wedding bells' and 'here before', I hope she makes it big and she gets the recognition she deserves for her talent, originality and hard work, I can't believe I have to endure factory made crap like The Saturdays over and over again and watch Jay Sean with his terrible jacket dance when there are artists like this out there who are so brilliant at what they do. It makes me wonder how many other artists are out there who I've not heard of that I am missing out on. I really recommend this album, Lissie is one to watch out for and I don't normally like many of the freebies Amazon give away but I ended up purchasing the whole thing X

Lissom and lovely 4 May 2010
Format:Audio CD
Excellent lyrics, diverse tunes, a spunky debut from the backwoods lassie Lissie, bodes well for the forthcoming long player. If she can flesh out the music a bit more we can expect great things in the future.
