Product Description
Friends: sometimes a girl shouldn't leave home without them...Jess Latham has her priorities right. High priority: Career, ambition, friends and Prada. Low priority: men, love and marriage. But when her closest friends succumb to domesticated bliss, she begins to wonder if maybe she's missing out on something. Maybe it's time to dip her pedicured toes in the waters of personal relationships. Surely one affair cant do any harm? But when this high-profile liaison is exposed in the Sunday tabloids, suddenly her world comes crashing down around her. Jess loses everything: her job, her salary, her dignity, her wardrobe. It couldn't be worse. There's only one way back to the top. Revenge. Armed with a cunning plan and four determined friends, she fights back. Well. why not? There's nothing else to lose...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab-u-liscious!!, 16 Nov 2002
I read Low's first book 'What If?' and thought it was excellent, and so when I discovered that her second novel was out, I had to buy it straight away!

If you have read the previous novel, you will undoubtedly recognise ‘Jess Latham’ as one of the characters from there. This story takes her perspective from before 'What If?' and after. This clever take on the 'sequel' genre made the novel that much more interesting, and as you already know the characters, you get to fall in love with them all over again!

However, if you are a Shari Low ‘virgin’, then this book is still irresistible! There is no need to have read the first book to get to know the characters, as they are introduced to the reader again (but this time in the way ‘Jess’ sees them, and not ‘Carly’ from ‘What If?’).

Taking the reader through a diary-esque, month-by-month account during two years in the life of ‘Jess Latham’, you discover just how the character changes from a straight-laced, sensible, up-standing citizen, to a laid-back, fun-loving girl. With unexpected twists and turns, and laugh-out-loud moments, you’ll be gasping for more at the end of each chapter.

Low has created real-life characters that spring from the page as you are reading. Whether it be the loveable Jess, or the formidable Basil, you get to know these people like they were friends, and end up missing them when you’ve finished the book!

This is a story of life, love, heartbreak and revenge. You’ll end up crying in the sad parts, and crying (from laughter) in the funny parts. A book that you’ll want to read time and time again. But most of all, it’ll make you realise just how important friends are, and how much fun cold-blooded revenge is!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful read with equally wonderful characters!, 13 Oct 2003
When it comes to making readers laugh, nobody does it quite like Shari Low. Her characters such as Jess and Carly make you want to keep turning the pages well past midnight! Having read 'What if' and 'Why not?', I just can't wait to get started on Double Trouble. The cover looks intriguing to say the least. I have also read Shari's story in Scottish girls about Town and am left with no doubt that this girl is a writer to be reckoned with. Simply fab!
