Product Description

A dazzling spectrum of projects in all media from the past six years by one of the UK's most influential and important design studios.

The spirit and brains behind Why Not Associates are Andy Altmann and David Ellis, whose unique graphic-design language has been admired and copied around the world in print, digital, and electronic media. Their client list is long and varied, ranging from Virgin Records to Paul Smith to the Royal Academy of Arts.

Why Not's versatile and innovative work has set arresting new standards in an image-saturated world. This inspiring survey brings together their most recent work and shows how they have refined their typographic style as they explore new media, exhibition design, and architecture-scale urban pieces. More than 1500 images, specially selected and arranged by the designers themselves, are accompanied by texts that explain their unique creative process and offer useful insights to designers seeking inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Not? Some of the best British graphic design ever, 10 Mar 2006
This review is from: Why Not Associates? 2: Graphic Design, Film and Photography (Hardcover)
The Why Not Associates have produced some of the most original and influential design of the past 20 years. Starting out in the mid 80s after graduating from St Martins College of Art in London, David Ellis and Andrew Altman soon went on to create some of the most inventive typography and design the world has ever seen.

This, their 2nd book, charts their more recent projects dating from around 1997/98 to the present. Anyone studying graphic design or interested in design in general should buy this book. Inspiration guaranteed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration, 17 Dec 2009
By D. Wall "Insolito" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Why Not Associates? 2: Graphic Design, Film and Photography (Hardcover)
I love this group but I wasn't as impressed with this portfolio book as I was with their first one... Like watching the Matrix... at first it is amazing...but by the second one... You have seen all the cool stuff and I felt it was kind of just more of the same. I still love this company and think that they have a really innovative way of marketing.
