Why oh why do children have to suffer what makes these monsters minds tick. When you read this book you just want to get in and take them away and look after them. However it is also nice to read how all the problems are delt with and how the authour moves on with their life.

"Looking back now, I think I spent my childhood paying the price for a hospital nurse dialing the wrong number."

Dear Sarah, writing this book and sharing your personal life experience, sending a message to the world, taking defence of all the children who have lived the same stories, are all evidence that the nurse dialed the right number...

Childhood is the most important phase of our lives, and all parents, even the ones who are not abusive, should become more responsible for every single action or word they say to their children!

So the answer that I gave to the question: "Why Me?" after reading the book is: Because you were able to turn a tragic experience into an example that shows the value of life.

I found this book so sad that a mother could treat a child like that with beating after beating and humiliation parents should be vetted I am so glad this girl walked out with her head high

This book is hard-core child abuse but Sarah tells it beautifully and manages to come out of it as an inspiration to others. Heartbreaking stuff.

This was extremely well written and gripping to read! It is terrible to think that any mother could treat their child like this one did and to never admit what she had done or be remorseful in any way even though her daughter gave her a chance. Truly inspiring!

I hadn't heard of Sarah Burleton before until my friend from church recommended her book Why Me?, and The Grandmothers by Janvier Chando. I find the stories not only touching, but equally well-written. They make the reader to see things from a different angle. These succinct stories held my attention to the point where I doubted if I paused at all until they came to the end.

It was such a heart breaking story, I find it so hard to believe that anyone could be that monstrous, especially a mother towards her own child.
But then you see so many tragedies in the news and as much as you don't want to believe, it is sadly a fact of life that these horrific stories keep occurring.
It is up to us as neighbours and as a community not to turn the other cheek but be there to protect our children.
The story is absolutely heart breaking and I can only hope that Sarah can look to the future with hope of a happy ending to her story with her husband and her children. Its a compelling story to read, i couldn't put it down until the end, I so wanted there to be a happy ending! May God bless you and heal you!

I am stunned by this book, I really hope other children regrettably in the same situation read this and get the courage they need to survive. This is a story to learn from.

Why me?
A good but sad story nice that it turned out good in the end and that she can live her life the way she wants to. Would recommend this book to my friends

Sarah thank you for having the courage to share your story. I really felt for you as I read your story and I keep urging you on to find a way to escape. It breaks my heart knowing that goes on and people turn a blind eye to it because there must be something different in the way they act or look. I hope you and your family continue to have a happy, fun, exciting family life and that as time goes bye you find away to put the past hurt in very tightly closed box in your mind so you don't have to remember it every day. I wish you love and peace bright blessing Louise x
