I'm 3/4 of the way through this edition of the book at present and have been so impressed with the determination and strength of mind Alex displays that I feel utterly compelled to write a review in order to recommend the book to other M.E. suffers in similar situations. Having fallen ill with M.E aged sixteen myself, there is a considerable overlap in our personal stories and some of the experiences Alex describes are eerily familiar to me. Any who doubt that we have control over our health and well being need look no further for evidence that we possess the power to affect our healing potential. Alex has not had an easy ride to recovery - in fact it is reasonable to say that his journey to recovery was torturous in a Dantean vein and at times analogous to Frodo's quest through middle earth, yet he has had the courage to surpass his "inner orc", and come out the other side with vibrant, singing health. While I acknowledge there is a trend in the M.E community to disparage any psychological approach to the illness as a result of the appalling treatment sufferers have experienced at the hands of conventional medicine, Alex's story demonstrates that health is comprised of many components and the physical and psychological are not so clear cut as they would at first seem. This is not to say that he sides with conventional medicine in approaching M.E as a psychosomatic illness, but that he astutely recognised that, in order to change his energy situation, he would have to change life-old habits and limiting beliefs! Alex's story is truly one of personal transformation and growth! I thoroughly recommend it.
