A very enlightening book - contents summary: 1) general differences 2) the brain 3)aggression 4) risk taking 5) school 6) sex 7) drugs 8) discipline 9) sexuality, tomboys, sissies 10) beyond pink and blue

The book will be good for anyone interested, particularly for doctors, psychologists, parents, welfare officers, teachers. Written by an authority on the subject. What got me to buy it was how there are some important differences in brain anatomy between males and females which determines their chosen method of describing/remembering information.

I am only half way through this book but it is extremely enlightening.
I have 3 young children, 2 boys and a girl, I am also Governor of an Infant school. It has really opened my eyes to the facts of gender differences in learning and outlook on life, which if not considered can impact negatively towards both girls and boys, by both parents and teachers.
Whats more our schools have just introduced "gender equality" policies. This is a consern considering real gender differences that policies can end up ignoring.
It also challenges some of the misdiagnosis of ADHD, which in some kids is the wrong teaching environment, not the child.
If you have young kids and want to understand how they behave differently, read this book.

I do not rate this book it is just psychobabble right wing idiotic drivel, and an excuse for bad behavior and lack of discipline, with some warped idea of what men should be like. It confuses real facts with supporting warped and twisted logic to support bullies under some warped logic that it is manly to bully people. There have always been sick people who want men to be abusive and claim that men who are not abusive are feminine. This goes into that sick age old category.
It does not make any sense to me, and does connect with my own life. I threw snowballs and played football, and climbed trees, when I was a child and I did not turn into a soldier and I hate bullying. Most of the bullies at my school did not even like football, they were often fat lazy kids who hated football. In fact most of those who did not do PE, were just fat people not feminine people.
The whole book seems based on the 2 dimensional idea of the jocks and the nerds. As if everyone is either sporty and a bully or intelligent, good, but less physical. Well I liked sport and was not a bully and was intelligent. In my life I have seen bullying is 50 - 50 in men and women. So where do I fit in this American teen comedy logic of jocks and nerds. I mean this seems like it is written by someone who writes a second rate 1980s USA comedy series who watch a movie about jocks and nerds.
It is simply an excuse. ADHD affects less than 10% of the population to define how we treat all men and women on that basis seem odd.
I accept there are differences between men and women, but he is using differences between 3 and 1 % of the population to judge these differences which is odd in the least.
As for feminization what does he mean? If he thinks teaching people not to bully or abuse then he is a sick sick man. What does he want people to be taught to be bullies and to abuse people? Men and women bully as much as eachother. Once again in my own life i see no difference in the amount of bullying men or women do. Men do more physical violence but verbal and social bullying is done in equal terms.
According to some theories if you have a more male brain and as a result have poorer communication skill and better strategic skill you are more likely to be the one who gets bullied than men with slightly less male brains and better communication skill. So why is he not standing up for that sort of guy the real manly brained guy who has poorer communication skill and is infact the least likely to be a bully or more likely to be a victim of bullying. His book is just for the slightly less male brained guys who better at communication skills and less interested in strategy. It is a ladyboy book.
