5.0 out of 5 stars Saw them at Reading. Bought album. Loved it. 16 Oct 2010
Format:Audio CD
What a breath of fresh air. Caught Redtrack on small stage at Reading. Totally bowled over. They really enjoyed themselves and you couldn't help enjoying it with em. Went home downloaded Whole Town's Heart.
Album started and in first five seconds thought it was going to be a bit heavy. Completely wrong. It bounced.
Even with some edgy song subjects still kept bouncing.
A bit of Costello, a bit of Squeeze a bit of Housemartins. Clever lyrics, clever song structure. Great fun. Searched and bought some of their earlier stuff. Can't turn it off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Righttrack 6 Oct 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I don't normally write reviews - there are lots of people better at it and usually plenty of stuff written - but in this case there is simply not enough praise being heaped!

I got into Redtrack after hearing Perfectly Fine Intellectual on an NME '10 tracks you should hear' type email and the single was a breath of fresh air. A couple of days later I went to see them do a few songs live at a tiny bar in Chelmsford and they were really excellent. Redtrack are the real deal: The songs are lovely bouncy, happy poppy/punky numbers with interesting modern-slanted lyrics and they are thoroughly nice chaps as well.

I love pretty much all the songs, but the standouts for me are two of the singles, Perfectly Fine Intellectual and The Trier. Apart from these the title track, Whole Town's Heart is a lovely little heart-string tugger and Been There is a brillianty brittle take on unrecquited love. Catch Me Out stands up with the best, with a lovely melody and some nice harmonies to enjoy.

This is a really, really good debut and I hope to hear a lot more from Redtrack.

Check out their stuff on myspace and YouTube for some really nice live and acoustic bits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend! 4 Oct 2010
By Tel
Format:MP3 Download
Seen this band live and loved their infectiously energetic performance and definitely catchy songs, I was keen to buy this album - which I did last week.
I have not been disappointed as the album is absolutely 1st class. A current and entirely relevant band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Band 2 Jan 2012
Format:Audio CD
Saw them live at a festival in the summer and have been dying to get their album ever since. Every week I have a new favourite, and have basically been through the album 12 times now, proving it has greater longevity than I was ever expecting.

Whole Town's Heart, Cigarette, Been There, Pretty Boy are currently the favourites. Clever lyrics, nothing too heavy, indie/alt rock.

Won't be for everyone, but I've loved them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Redtrack , they rock like a monkey. 24 April 2011
Format:Audio CD
I came across this band purely by chance , walked into a venue just behind Great Portland Street Station and they were already well into their set. It was clear that the band were well into what they were doing , really enjoying themselves . The crowd although not a sold out responded in like fashion and a really good night was had by all.
About a week or so later I ordered Whole Towns Heart and I have to say the album improves with each listen , it's a grower. For a first offering which I believe this is , it's a very strong offering. I like the whole album particularly track 6 Pole Dancer all the way down to track 10 Pretty Boy.
Pete Shelley from the Buzzcocks has produced a lot of these tracks and has done an excellent job.
Redtrack are a guitar driven rock band , capable of subtle touches. I believe they have now now added a second guitar , it can only improve the sound. Do yourself a favour have a listen to the album and try to catch them live , you will enjoy it ,redtrack rock like a monkey.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT'S IN A NAME? 21 Oct 2010
By savidad
Format:Audio CD
Every small town officionado will rattle on about Bobby Moore or Geoff Hurst or George Best being the greats in English football - and to an extent they're right. But one name always gets forgotten - Billy Wright. He is the unsung hero of the beautiful game.
So, what's that got to do with this album? the connection is easy, Billy Wright. he's the singer songwriter of this ensemble and, maybe not quite as famous as the original England/Wolves man but still deserving of much more credit than is given. I've listened to early RedTrack songs and this bloke has it in spades. It's too easy to dismiss things as being too much like this or out of date or whatever embittered emotion drives bad reviews. RedTrack are quite simply a collection of people who make songs that others wish they'd written.

This album is phenomenal.

I dont often rave about any bands but Billy and co. create a sound that is pure pop fused with the beautiful arrogance of youth and the sensitivity of a songwriter twice his age.
How the shocking dross in the charts is drooled over with such fervour and Pole Dancer is (at the time of writing) not I have no idea. It is as close to perfect as any song could get (and Pete Shelley didnt hurt none neither!!)

Of course they're regional - no one cant be but its nice to hear a southern voice with little twists of angst coming out of the speakers rather than some irritating northerners trading on their geographical location - style over substance.

RedTrack are original - as original as two guitars, bass and drums can be but the real beauty is in the craft and caretaken in the writing and performing. Don't underestimate them. Open your ears, appreciate the honesty and accept a great album for what it is.

Billy Wright - he shoots, he scores.
