Just putting a marker down before buying, the original subject area had the darkest of pedophilic undertones (Rodin and this circle are at the roots of real modern problems). Adding the blurb to that makes me suspicious whether edginess goes beyond the pale - I'll update once I know.

I agree, Book of Lost Things is fantastic escapism...and dark too.
