Who Do You Think You Are? follows the journeys of ten well known personalities as they explore their family trees, uncover their family history and discover fascinating and poignant facts about their ancestors that have been, until now, hidden in the annals of time. June Brown starts with a bare-knuckle boxer in London s East End and ends up in Algeria; J.K. Rowling finds herself on the French border with Germany in the disputed territory of Alsace Lorraine; Sebastian Coe is Jamaican bound to uncover a history of sugar and slaves; Larry Lamb discovers a fantastical fairground history and a lost relative; Emilia Fox explores a theatrical heritage and an engineering innovator; Alan Carr kicks off with stories of the soccer field before tracking down a missing soldier; Robin Gibb finds himself related to a poor boy turned military man and uses the Freedom of Information Act to get to the heart of a mid-wife s labour; Richard Madeley discovers what it is to be a Pilgrim; Len Goodman starts with a barrow boy before traveling to Poland and returning to the London of Karl Marx; and Tracey Emin explores workhouses, prisons and the craftwork of gypsies

I just love this series and find it very, very interesting (even though I am unaware of who most of these Brits really are!). I am American and have only recognized a handful of the chosen celebrities in this (and past) series i.e. Jeremy Irons, Jerry Springer, J.K. Rowlings (or those who have made it in some way, shape or form, on the other side of the pond). I have already seen series 1 - 7 and this series eight is especially good. Anyone who is interested in history or finding out about their own family history will find this series worth watching and entertaining. By the way, in my opinion the British version is much better than the American--don't tell any of my compatriots in the USA though!

My particular insterest in this series was the programme devoted to Robin Gibb. The show is sensitive and informative without being overpwering. With the passing of Robin i will cherish having this documentary as a keepsake. I have admired the quality of every edition of this show.

As with all other UK series, it is excellent, regardless of whether I know who the famous people are.
Some are more interesting than others, only natural.

If you enjoy watching the series on tv and missed these celebrities, then get this set. They are well worth watching and clearly spoken.
