Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

You'd never have guessed that this country hunk would turn out to have a brain and a heart hiding under his Western gear, but Brad Paisley's Who Needs Pictures is among the more encouraging albums to come out of Nashville in some time. Rather than running from country's traditions, Paisley embraces them, going so far as to include the gospel standard "In the Garden" alongside original songs that tackle more contemporary subjects such as single motherhood ("He Didn't Have to Be") or church services that interfere with a Sunday out on the lake ("Long Sermon"). Just as promising, the guitars (Paisley's own picks) and fiddles here have been recorded in all their biting, twangy glory. There are problems--a few arrangements are predictably busy and the gimmicky fake-out ending of "Me Neither" is clever precisely once--but overall, Paisley's debut seems like a sign of something good about to develop. --David Cantwell

Anyone what his appearance at the BBC Radio2 Country Festival last year will attest to his great talent as a singer and musician. This album rocks from the slightly comic "Me Neither" and "Never would Have Worked Our Anyway" to the wonderfully tender ballads of "We Danced" and "Who Needs Pictures". His songwriting shows a maturity and he keeps country real. There are no duff tracks on the CD anywhere and I look forward to the follow up which I hope will be out soon.

Brad Paisley is now one of the leading artist's in country music and this debut is where it all began!!
He opens the album with a cracking electric guitar solo on Long Sermon then there's his hits Me Neither and the title track Who Needs Pictures. Also included is his first no.1 hit,the very touching He Didn't Have To Be and his second no.1 We Danced, a lovely romantic ballad.
Other standouts are the excellent uptempos Don't Breathe and the very funny Sleepin' On The Foldout. He ends the album with the beautifully arranged gospel classic In The Garden-lovely fiddle solo.
An excellent debut that showed a huge country star in the making....

I'll listen to a wide variety of country from Garth to Strait, Yearwood to Loveless and Brad Paisley has certainly impressed me with a great album including some superb songs like "He didn't have to be" and the funny "Me neither". Can't wait for the 2nd one!!
