This is an excellent book … a lively read and enjoyable for the whole family' Your Family Tree magazine.

From the Back Cover

How did our ancestors get their surnames? Do we all come from Africa? Are we really related to hobbits? This book is teeming with fascinating facts, history, photos and activities that will inspire children to dig out their family records to discover their own ancestors and family connections. Using step-by-step activities, readers will be able to trace their histories through existing family records and interviews with members of the family. By the end of the book, children will have created their very own extended family tree, will have understood why we have surnames and how Genghis Khan is related to the British Royal Family.

Format: Hardcover
I bought this book because I work with 6/7 year olds who were working on an arts topic, 'All about me' Although the book was aimed at older children, I was able to inspire younger ones with it's varied content. There were lots of interesting facts as well as an overview of family histories throuhout the ages. I think it would be suitable for 10 to 15 year olds with an interest in history in general, and particularly family history. I am very pleased with my purchase.
