This book, a childhood favourite, although second-hand, arrived in pristine condition, so good, in fact, that I was in two minds whether to give it to my children or hoard it away as a near-perfect collector's item.
It arrived in an envelope with a stiff card back and was clearly marked "DO NOT BEND".
The seller, Barnabeesbooks, was top-notch. Correspondence regarding a dispute, which wasn't their fault AT ALL, was always courteous and helpful. I cannot recommend them enough.
The story of Dick Whittington is widely known and well told here by Vera Southgate who wrote most of the Ladybird Well-Loved-Tales. The artwork inside the book (by Eric Winter) differs slightly from the cover which makes me wonder if there weren't multiple versions of it (comments welcome). Although listed as Grade 2, it is a challenging read for my 7 year-old, easily as wordy as Jack and The Beanstalk which is a Grade 3.
