It seems impossible to believe that a series constructed of myth and magic, of alternative realities, of real people in the 15th century,could so hold the attention and demand you follow Willard & Co. to the end of their story that it was difficult to put the book down and do something sensible, like go to work!

I have followed Robert Carters trilogy after feeling withdrawal symptoms of JRR Tolkiens fine work. Carter has created a mind boggling trilogy full off mystical beings, magic and total mystery. 'Whitemantle' the third and last in the trilogy was addictive from start to end.
Willands journey continues from The Giants' Dance where he finds out the true identity of his assassin. As things become more confusing and the fate of The Realm lies deep in Willands hands, he must find the Battlestones and evade Chlu, assassin, while he is forever drawn to him.
Our favourite characters play major roles in this book and some surprising new characters come into play. Can Willand fulfill his prophecy and become the Great Arthur and take his place as King?
An unexpected but delightful ending, where all the unknown becomes answered. A masterpiece.
