Product Description

The unlikely team of fast-track cop-on-the-rise DI Chandler (Rupert Penry-Jones) and DS Miles (Phil Davis) are back on the case, along with their uninvited amateur expert on local murder Edward Buchan (Steve Pemberton) in Whitechapel. Hot on the heels of the Jack the Ripper murders, something dark and dangerous is happening on the back streets of Whitechapel. After a spate of gruesome killings and maimings, Buchan suggests that the crimes seem to replicate those of the much-feared Kray Twins of the 1960s, powerful ganglords who once terrorised the East End of London. Are their underworld murders being painstakingly recreated? For Chandler it all points to one man – but the answer is far from clear when a new set of twins appear on the scene. Decades on from the original crimes, with the danger increasing with every delay, can the Whitechapel team crack the Krays?

5.0 out of 5 stars I Enjoyed It 26 Oct 2010
By M. Dowden HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
I must admit that when I heard the basics of the plotline for this I wan't going to watch it, but I am glad I did. Don't put this down without watching it because you will miss something really good.

After their last case where they were following a Jack the Ripper copycat killer the team now find themselves up against the Krays. Have the Krays come back to life, or is there something more than just a copycat killer on the loose? Soon the team are up against it, who can you trust? Who is pulling whose strings? Who is going to be the next to die?

Are the Krays really back again, or is there something much more sinister going on? If you recently saw this on tv I don't have to explain to you what happens, and if you didn't then I don't want to spoil your viewing pleasure. If you like your crime dramas a bit more gritty and a little bit different as well as being well acted, then this should be right up your street. Admittedly at the beginning the plot may seem a bit ludicrous, but watch it to the end and see who is really pulling the strings of everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe one copycat too many 18 Dec 2010
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Whitechapel Series 2 was definitely one to look forward to. As with the first Whitechapel the casting was excellent and the acting very good. To be unlucky enough to have to deal with two gruesome copycat serial killings, first in series one with the Ripper and in series 2 with the Krays, was however hard to swallow. Our Ripper expert from series one seemed equally au fait with the Kray story but at least this time the murderers were caught. Sadly, however, not before most of the intended victims were already dead. If there is to be a series three I sincerely hope the copycat theme is laid to rest. Despite this I can still recommend watching the series. The historical research was hard to fault and the production and direction were also of a high standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 17 Nov 2010
Format:DVD
Considering this programme was just a short tv series a lot of effort and thought has gone into it. I found it pretty fast paced and I enjoyed all of it. There are lots of twists and turns, you think you've finally worked it out, but then you realise that you haven't. I shall be watching this again :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Dixon of Dock Green!!!
Though not as gripping as Life on Mars or Ashes to Ashes, this police/crime series is very watchable and the team grows on you as they grow on each other. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary.
Watched series one and was hooked. I like the characters as they all have their own strange flaws. Brilliant and tense scary viewing. Recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of British.
The second season continues in the same vane as the first. Copycat murders that hark back to the time of the Kray brothers and their henchmen. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
Brilliant serie, the serie 3 is not as good as the serie 2, certainly due to Craig Parkinson's amazing Kray brothers interpretation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so exciting.
An OK kind of thriller but the pace is a little slow and the plot too contrived. The characters are too little plausible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I loved watching this series on telly. Rupert Penry Jones is delicious, worth it for that alone, but the plots are so clever.

I loved every minute of this series, I love a good mystery but I find a lot of them can be figured out in about 20 minutes but this kept me guessing throughout the whole series. Read more
