Product Description

From the Back Cover

Mourning the death of his daughter, tormented by the past, Nicholas Linnear is certain of only one thing: he doesn’t want to kill again. Once the ultimate master of love and death, he is now 'shiro ninja' – white ninja – no longer able to summon the disciples and powers that enabled him to live a life of honour and truth amidst greed and corruption.

As he is stalked by doubts and fears – and by an enemy with unheard of mystical powers – a torrent of death is suddenly unleashed, sweeping Nicholas towards his own nemesis. Only by discovering the secret of a new, higher power – a power he believed to be mythic but now knows to be real – can Nicholas bring peace to the maelstrom that surrounds him.

'White Ninja' is a novel of shattering intensity and passion.

“A man who understands both the Western and Oriental minds”

2.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately not his best 13 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I felt like I grew up with the hero of this story, Nicholas Linnear. I've been reading the books since I was a teenager, but after waiting several years to pick this one up again to finish it off, I must say I was disappointed. Though a wonderful writing style (this is the only author who's made me feel for a moment that I've actually seen and smelt the world he describes), I find the storyline lacks imagination, as if he's written without thought. The climax is terrible. It slowly builds, but leaves you deflated. After reading through several inches of book you expect more. I found myself finishing it off then through a sense of duty. For the same reason I'll probably read the remaining books in this series. I just hope they have more to offer than White Ninja.

5.0 out of 5 stars A totally thrilling and spellbinding novel 25 July 2004
Format:Paperback
While Eric Lustbader has added a fantasy element to the Nicholas Linnear series, he has done so in a way that mixes fiction with the usual compelling historical insights.
White Ninja takes the Nicholas Linnear series into whole new depths as he is faced with a seemingly unstoppable enemy with mystical powers beyond the scope of Nicholas's training.
This takes place against the backdrop of a business plot including a corporate takeover and a new computer virus, that is somehow linked with the century old blood feud threatening to engulf Nicholas. To defeat an enemy beyond the scope of his power he must go back to the roots of his training in a spiritual journey deep into the Japanese mountains.
This is perhaps the most thrilling and shocking of all the Linnear novels, and perhaps the most imaginative. It also presents Nicholas Linnear in his most fallible form and features a startling insight into the human psyche.
A thrilling novel that is an absolute must not only for oriental culture buffs, but also to any lovers of the mystical thriller genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fantastic read 23 Oct 2007
By Mark1
Format:Paperback
This is a fantastic addition to the Nicholas Linnear series and poses his greatest challenge, to date. I won't spoil the story here but it follows on marvellously from the Miko. The psychological battle of wits between Tanzan Nangi and Kusunda Ikusa is also superb. In fact this is why I have put a review here and not on the others in the series. The character of Nangi, the samurai bureaucrat really does add to the Nicholas Linnear series, but be sure to start witht he Ninja. This is the third in the series following on from the Miko!

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Ninja series 7 Oct 2007
By M. A. Ramos TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Nicholas Linnear is back in this, the third book of a series. He and his wife stayed in Japan. The book opens up with them mourning the death of their baby daughter. At the same time he comes under an unknown attack that causes him to lose his martial arts abilities. Then a murder spree breaks out in Tokyo which seems linked to his family. Washington politics become involved in this story because of Linnear's companies computer chips and a new computer the govt. has developed.

We then follow Linnear as he tries and regain his powers and seek revenge for the death of a friend, he journeys to China to learn a martial art he thought was legendary and regain his powers. This is written in the same fine Lustbader format with political intrigue, new high technology, and he continues his look into the Oriental mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great combination 27 Oct 2003
Format:Hardcover
I really enjoyed reading this there are lots of plot twist and ties to the previous books with this character. It was also good to see the combination and clashing of eastern and western philosiphies within several of the characters. Another good point is that the author obviously understands both sets of minds for the detail in the attributes of the characters is outstanding
