Hmm, a bit of a jumble of scenes, this movie. The actors, the humid southern swampland feel, and the location photography were very good. The screenplay, while full of witty, southern style dialogue was not so good in overall design, often relying on long repetitive car chases instead of more meaningful action. As a Brit watching it 35 years after it was made, I obviously struggled with the concept of there being a serious black market trade in the States of poteen or moonshine liquor in the 1970s. It could just be that I don't know this culture at all, and I don't, but I had to bend over backwards to find any credibility in this generally entertaining action caper. The big HOWEVER is, Burt Reynolds was in fine old form, being butch, as ever and wisecracking his way through some enjoyable dialogue. Worth a viewing, but don't expect a classic, there are better Burt vehicles out there.
