I'm a big fan of CDs being pressed in Japan, I buy them from CDjapan website. However what they don't produce there, I have to buy here in the UK. Recently, I believe the best CD I have ever bought - and trust me when I say I own a lot - is Whispers by the Passenger. I'm a huge fan of the Passenger's work and I can't wait to see him perform in Edinburgh but this time I would like to stand in a queue to get someone else's autograph, Sarah Larnach's who has designed the most original artwork for an album ever. The version of the CD that I own is a limited edition, collector's version with pop up artwork. It looks like Sarah read Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. I mean the part of his biography where he mentions his father making the furniture where every detail was taken care of and that included the details at the back of the furniture that was never seen. The artwork is beautifully designed and perfectly made. It reminds me of a children's book with beautiful acrylic illustrations which complete the truthful lyrics written by Passenger. However, unlike the most children's books, in this one Sarah hasn't missed out any details, even the ones you can't see for example, there are no expected white blanks behind the pop up but the pop up blends naturally with the background. I can't wait to see what she does next. If you are planning on buying this CD, buy the special edition, it's worth it.
