The McKinnon Legends-The American Men follows modern day warriors Robert, Mason, Chase, and Josh McKinnon in their challenges with women, treasure, and family. Whisper in the Dark tells Robert’s story and leads readers on a treasure hunt of a lifetime.

Setting foot on Texas soil after being away for fifteen years forces Katherine to confront her past and make decisions for her future. On the one hand, Robert was her gallant knight, slaying both her financial and human dragons, yet could she trust him with all her secrets? Can the two work together to find the treasure Kyle died while trying to find, or will they call it quits when it gets tough? Could she come home again and make a fresh start? Read on and find out as the journey begins for The McKinnon American Men.

It's a good read, but.....Not as good as the previous books in The McKinnon Legends series. I will download the next book, as I do find Ranay James to be an excellent author.

5.0 out of 5 stars i love these men! 12 Oct. 2013

book 6 in the McKinnon legends sees a shift from the Seabridge men to the American men, and a seamless shift it is too!

Robert appears in a previous book, but this is his story. when his best friend is found murdered, Robert has to deal with Kyle's little sisiter, Katherine. only she aint so little any more, and Robert gets that sucker-punch to the belly "MINE" very early in the book. Katherine, or Kate, or Katie-bug, depending on what mood Robert is in, is in dire straights with nothing and no one to rely on, but Robert. but she doesnt want to. however, when her life is threatened, she has to deal with Robert, an old flame and some legend about lost gold on her land.

i love how we watch Robert deal with this sucker-punch, and his love for Katherine. Katherine has a mouth on her and is not afraid to use, making me laugh out loud in many a place. BUT the thing i love the most, is this book goes back to the beginning. there is no descriptive sex screens, is all inferred, and leaves you, the reader, to fill in the blanks, just like with Nic and Morgan's story. there is no actual time travel by the main characters, but Gage does that for Robert, and its all based in the States. i would like to have seen some of the old characters appear in this book, but just a passing mention, but i understand why they dont appear.

one thing, though, Ms James....shifter DNA????? i hope that will be explained in a later book!

Disappointing. I've enjoyed the previous books in this series as they have had interesting storylines and are written well on the whole. This one was even more unbelievable and just didn't hold my attention.

I was so thrilled with this book that I bought the entire series. I love time travel but thus book was a step up from the rest. These brothers have round trip capability! I also enjoyed the story and character development. I would love to see more written in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time Travel at its best! 27 Feb. 2014

rI love Time Travel romance, and this series is one of the best. Spreading out into the American group just spreads the enjoyment to another continent. Ranay James is great at what she does. I seldom finish a book in more than two readings. I can't put them down.
