This book is easily digestible, I like the fact that it is a business book but written in the form of a fictional story. So it's entertaining (quite witty) but then key concepts/models are summmarised at the end of each chapter.

It is quite 'future-focused', looking at how individuals can work in or manage global and virtual teams given the latest trends in international business and the various new technologies out there. As someone looking for new ideas and approaches I found it practical and insightful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Concepts interesting, fiction a bit weak 28 Aug 2010
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The concepts and ideas in this book are interesting. Its essentially a consultancy / management book wrapped up in a bit of fiction. The concepts are good, although trying to make everything fit into a model be it the 2x2 matrix beloved of consultants or some acronym or six sided model or triangle, got a little tiresome.

The fiction is pretty basic; I suspect Terry wont be taking that career up. But at the end of the day this is probably the best book around for anyone contemplating the challenges of running virtual global teams or tryin to set one up.

Worth a read. Cheaper than getting the consultants in.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Instructional Soap Opera! 28 Nov 2008
This is the first fun to read business book I have come across in a very long time! I genuinely enjoyed the page-turner aspects of this book, as I did the business learning.

The characterisation is wonderful, and makes the theory, model and examples all the more simple to memorise and to envisage applying in the real or virtual world!

I would recommend this not only to people working in international business, but also to all those who struggle to grasp some of the current jargon about Internet 2.0, the virtual world, and so on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical, accessible ...and fun! 24 Nov 2008
This is a great book! What I like most, is that far from being yet another turgid 'business book' in which some distant guru preaches about how to 'transform your team', it's a story that unfolds and features people just like you and me. By the time you get to the end, you feel as if you've met real characters, some of whom are more likeable than others! Best of all, there are some great new practical tools to help you participate and lead your own team more effectively!
