5.0 out of 5 stars So many new places to see birds 9 Jun 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A fantastic book with a wealth of information for the birder.
I live in Bedfordshire, and have found several places I didn't even know existed before I got this book. Since reading this book my species list has taken a nice little jump up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Infectious enthusiasm 19 July 2010
Format:Paperback
As a relatively recent returner to my first love - birding - this book has been invaluable in revealing the best and most productive sites to find birds in my local area. You might assume that a land-locked County like Berkshire would be a bit dull for birders but Brian Clews' book, with his infectious enthusiasm and authoritative knowledge of the local area and its birds, has helped me to get off to a flying start in the County! The book is now nearly ten years old and could do with up-dating(there are new access arrangements for Moatlands gravel pit and the Queen Mother Reservoir, for example) but even so this is the most useful bird book I possess and the most frequently referred to after my field guides. I highly recommend it to all birders living in or visiting the Thames Valley.

4.0 out of 5 stars A suggestion 19 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
I find it excellent but my partner is critical of the maps in the guides of which this is an example. We have had difficulty finding certain sites because there are no post codes to put into our SatNav. We suggest that these are added when the books in this series are re-published. Overall this series of books is of the highest possible quality, a real find - in fact a Wainwright for birders.
