5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book 30 Oct 2012

I am not an Australian but had to buy it after a visit to family in Australia. My sister-in-law cooked several dishes from a variety of books by Karen Martini and when I got back I had to buy at least one of them. All of the dishes are delicious and popular with the family. They are easy to follow and make you feel good and healthy! My husband loves the baked fennel with parmesan and oregano and my daughter loves the baked layered potato and Jerusalem artichoke. The apple strudel with marmalade is delicious but look at how many that recipe serves, 10-12 people! Great for a big family lunch. The soft meringue with vanilla mascarpone and passionfruit curd is heavenly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yummy Yummy food 5 Jan 2012

Again I have to state up front I am an Australian. Karen Martini writes for the weekend papers here and I find her recipes very yummy but sometimes very complex....but this book is full of easy, tatsy recipes. My copy is full of yellow post it notes marking recipes to cook again and recipes I want to try (there is nearly a post it note on every page!).
If you love unfussy food with great flavours - this is the book for you (especially if you find her Newspaper column recipes too tricky). Thanks Karen.

Karen Martini is a brilliant chef - and a great communicator. This book is a joy to use - sensible, delicious and easy to prepare modern Australian recipes, drawing from the author's Italian heritage, as well as greek and french inspirations. The photography is great - and the baked eggs with chorizo and fetta, served at brunch will have friends begging for the recipe!
