Are magical orders really as old as they claim to be? What's the skinny on chaos magic? Do 'real' Satanists actually exist? In this fun romp through some of magic's commonly asked questions, Frater U.:D.: plays Dear Deirdre for the occult crowd. The renowned European author and esoteric expert introduces us to chatty Aunt Clara, a straight-talking old sorceress eager to share her wisdom on all subjects magical. In between cigarette breaks and coffee dates, the elderly Aunt Clara pens quick responses to queries sent in from practising magicians. This smorgasbord of bite-sized essays touches on topics such as joining a magical order, the pros and cons of working with a mentor, and even the magical validity of the Harry Potter novels. Easy to page through, good-humored, and never dogmatic, "Where Do Demons Live?" is the perfect quick reference for beginner practitioners.

Frater U\D\ (Belgium) is one of Europe's best known practical magicians and contemporary occult authorities. He has written more than twenty-five books and is recognized for his practical and non-dogmatic approach to the Black Arts.
Suitable if you are in the middle of finding stuff out and notice a balloon of suspendend disbelief happens to be forming above you and seems for some reason to be attatched to your ankle...threataning to topple you from your path. ie: dont take this or anything too seriously....or...do take it seriously..ignore me ...what do i know...its your life.. dont blame others...'specially me...write to aunt clara why not...i'm not aquiring any power doing this...i have'nt even had breakfast.
I Enjoyed this book a lot, brought it originally for the title and the authors reputation. Originally Published in a magazine in an advice column this book conveys answers to peoples questions covering subjects such as what role has the Golden Dawn played, Astral Travel, Shamanism and indeed Harry Potter. The answers are the authors own opinion and in some cases can be disagreeable but then again Aunt Klara states disagreeing isn't a bad thing, the only question not answered in the book is we'll see Aunt Klara again?

5.0 out of 5 starsSage advice from your favorite Aunt3 April 2010

While not much about demons and where they live, this is a compilation of replies to various reader questions posed to Aunt Klara (portrayed) as a witty, wise and self effacing old sorceress who writes a column for the German publication "Anubis". This alter ego of the author gives practical advice and answers questions on occult subject matter spanning from the mundane to the ridiculous, from the serious to the provocative. I'm glad I read his book at this point in my study because it provided me a level headed practical perspective that emphasizes "if it works continue and if it doesn't discard it"...and, the best teacher may very well be to just try it... of course with the right preparation. If you are new to the topic, read this book; it is fast, fun and informative. If you're experienced, I would expect you will enjoy a heavy dose of rule number 6..."Don't take yourself so seriously"...

3.0 out of 5 starsInteresting but very broad24 Aug 2011

The book was interesting but very broad. Many of the questions and answers can be found on other books. This book is presenting information for someone new on the subject. This format Q&A es nice and it would be good to have another similar book for a more advance people on the subject of Magic (including several sections): Theory, Ceremonial, Tarot, Astrology, Sigils, Kabb., etc. I hope we can see it in the near future....
4.0 out of 5 starsGood general start on magick13 Dec 2012

Being a complete and utter newwbie to the practice of magick and sorcery, I felt that this was good place to start. The title of the book seemed to give the impression that it was free of the dogma that is normally present in many magical groups and religion. It would be like if I were an athiest and I wanted to go to christian church and I was immidiately bombarded with terms, practices, and spiritual concepts that I had no real connection or understanding. This book approaches individuals in a very friendly and non-intrusive manner, mixed with humor as well. I felt it was very well written and the author doesn't take himself (or the reader) very seriously. Yet at the same time the author does his very best (in my opinion) to answer all the questions that we're all afraid to ask about magick, sorcery, daemonology, and the like. Overall, a great purchase for the individual who feels intimidated to ask those 'forbidden questions' regarding magick.
