5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Scandinavian fusion/progressive, 25 Jan 2009

This review is from: Where Do We Begin (Audio CD)
Originally started as a psychedelic powertrio, M.i.Sw. regrouped in the mid 70s as a jazzfusion/progressive rock band. Still led by the virtuosic guitarist George Wadenius, not only a fine soloist but also an accomplished composer. Wadenius would of course later embark on a succesfuyl career as sessionmusician, playing and/or touring with the likes of Blood, Sweat & Tears, Grace Slick (on her briliant "Dreams"album) and Steely Dan.

The band also included vocalist Tommy Körberg, mostly known as a pop-singer but here showing his vast potentials. Körberg famous for his contributions to the original version of the musical "Chess". As well as the great Finnish bassplayer Pekka Pohjola, who not only lays down some funky groves but also delights with inventive wah-bass solos.

Scandinavian prog/fusion in the vein of Aunt Mary, Secret Oyster, Midnight Sun and still sounding fresh, interesting and adventurous.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another good one from this band, 12 Jun 2011

With this i already own their 4 lps/cds. Now they have to issue that fantastic album 'Solar Plexus' by Solar Plexus group whichinvolved Made in Sweden's guitar player and composer (afer the first 3 Made in Sweden albums) which is a spectacular album. This is probably their weakest as some USA funk fusion is definitely creeping in and leaving behind their folk/pop/psychedelic sound a bit (which is the reason i liked them in the first place). But, still, a couple of memorable songs, three instrumentals which show off the talents of Pohjola (who offers the best instrumental-a 10 minute tour de force in his particular style of composing), Wadenius and last but not least the forgotten great key player Gulgowsky. The singer is quite good but i miss their previous one. Anyways, a good one for sure but leave it for last after you get their other 3.
