1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing 13 Sep 2009
By Robert L. Bayliss - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I just finished this and only rated it one star because there is no reason to learn to "just cope." There is relief available, though seldom from Doctors who are conventional ENTs. Doctors don't learn in med school how to fix tinnitus because they do not learn enough about the human brain. For research read Jastreboff. For relief, read, "Turning The Volume Down." I see that there is a newer edition than the one I read. Be sure to get the 2007 edition that is Revised and Expanded. I had tinnitus for 6 years until I read this book. I got relief and am thankful for it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Tinnitus Overview 13 May 2007
By J. Rutolo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a good introductory book on the subject of tinnitus. It offered hope for healing and numerous solutions. The most important thing I learned from this book is that most people who have tinnitus do not suffer from it, and that those who do usually have a background of emotional difficulties. Generally, the best treatment is to learn that understanding the tinnitus helps to diffuse the fear of it which in turn reduces the volume and the suffering. It is possible to live with it and have it bother you no more than wearing a pair of glasses. I did purchase a second book titled Tinnitus: Turning Down the Volume which is more in depth for those who want to learn the technical aspect of the illness and look for solutions that are more psychologically based. The good news is that you don't have to suffer, it just takes time and work for the healing to happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on tinnitus so far 7 Jan 2007
By Sarah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have had tinnitus for over a year. I have read many books on the topic but I have found this one to be the best so far. I really think this book can be very helpfull for anyone with tinnitus. It is very well written and it seems to cover everything. It made me think about my tinnitus differently. It gives me so much hope that I will be able to cope better in the future. I have not finished reading it yet, but I had to come on and write a review so that others could also get some help. I look foward to finishing it. It does give me hope!
