This is a truly wonderful collection of small - mostly one page - "sermons" or commentaries to passages from the Bible. Adrian Plass manages to be both personal, relevant, understanding and friendly - without losing sight of the message. He is very funny too. Highly recommended.

If you are already practising to be a Christian (or not) this is a book which will make you cry, laugh but most of all think. Every page contains anecdotes from Adrian's life but after reading them they tend to creep into your thought and awaken you to similar predicaments, problems and hilarious situations in ones own life and experiences and probably dealt with by not involving the only One who should have been. I read his book whilst being unavoidably detained in hospital and I felt humbled. Adrian's words are powerful. Read them and believe.

I am very pleased with this book - it gives just enough detail at one 'sitting' to process effectively. The content is excellent, and it inspires and encourages at the same time as recognising personal failings in our walk with God. If I had one small criticism - it's listed as a 365 day project, but the pages are undated, so it's a bit tricky when the bookmark falls out. But that's the only thing - everything else is very well presented. I would definitely recommend this book.

An excellent book by Adrian Plass although I obviously haven't read it all yet.
He puts his own headings to passages from the Bible and gives you chapter, verse and version of the Bible from which he writes to.
He has an easy to read style and laces his writings with bits of humour. This affords the reader a read that is not too heavy but picks out the relevant passages from the Bible.
I particularly liked his "Enveloped by love" which relates so well to teachings in the church that I attend with regard to prayer.

I've not long started using this for my dailing readins however. I completely agree with what many others have said in there reviews.
Adrain's short punchy passages get straight to the point of the passage in a practical way. Adrain enhances this with annecdotes and his little closing comments, most of which make me think, chuccle or both.

There is something about the writing of this man that sort of makes me 'slow down' when reading which is a good thing as there is much to think about and ponder on in this book.
