Ordered and shipped the same day. Album bought on speck as I don't remember having heard their stuff before, If you liked the group Rare Earth, think you will like this.

This review is from: When the Whistle Blows Anything Goes (Audio CD)
There was more to one hit wonders The Soul Survivors than 'Expressway To Your Heart' and this great garage soul LP deserves to be better known. The obvious reference point for the New Jersey sextet is fellow Italo-Americans The Rascals but the Survivors were much rougher around the edges, and their guitar sound had more than a passing nod to psychedelia. The LP is heavy on organ-led workouts on R&B standards such as The Marvelettes' 'Too Many Fish In The Sea', Otis Redding's 'Respect' and The Rascals' 'Do You Feel It', which were staples of their live show, but they could change down a gear for a poignant version of Sam Cooke's civil rights anthem 'A Change Is Gonna Come' or their own ballad 'Dathon's Theme', and of course the Gamble & Huff productions 'Expressway To Your Heart', 'Impossible Mission' and 'Explosion In Your Soul' were precursors to the Sound of Philadelphia.
