I have read a few of the other reviews and I cannot really understand some of negative ones, This is a really great CD with 4 fantastic songs on it, Highly recommended, can't wait for the album!

This is a soft focus, X-Factor-filterised version of a great song by Biffy Clyro, whose own version of the song should have triumphed in the charts and didn't. Actually it's one of Biffy Clyro's less amazing songs, so let me take this opportunity to recommend that you listen to their other music. I've seen them play live, and they blew me away.

Getting back to Matt Cardle. For the first time, the X Factor has produced a winner who was, before signing up to the Cowell sausage machine, an independent singer-songwriter with his own unsigned band, Seven Summers, and an album by the same name. Seventeen years of struggling in the wilderness led Matt to sign up for a shot at X Factor glory and despite all the odds he made it to the final and won the thing. Who would have thought it! A guy with not the slightest interest in projecting a mainstream pop image, or in singing cheesy pop songs. Every single song that he's sung in the contest was a great original that deserved promotion and rediscovery.

So what do you do when a talented singer-songwriter who's spent many years being ignored tries to use a channel like the X Factor just to get some attention and success for both themselves and the music they love. Well you can either turn your back on them, and sneer like a true elitist, or you can cheer them on. Personally I'm taking the latter option. It's not the fault of musicians like Matt that the X Factor has such a toxic hold on popular taste. Matt himself has done nothing whatsoever to promote bad music during his X Factor run. He's stayed true to himself and has produced some lovely work, which looked very out of place on the show. In my opinion, Matt is the beginning of an answer to the X Factor problem. He can write songs, he can play a guitar, and he has a remarkable voice.

I got this brilliant CD for xmas & I haven't stopped listening to it!! This years X Factor is the only one where I have watched religiously and voted (many times!!!). Matt Cardle is very talented, can sing anything and I thought his versions of the songs he sung at the live shows were better than the originals!! He can sing, he can write songs, he can play a guitar. Unlike all other contestants he is actually a real musician, not just some wannabe who sings in their bedroom and dreams of stardom. He's done many dull jobs just to pay for studio time with his previous bands (also highly recommend the self titled album by his last band Seven Summers)and played in pubs and clubs to small crowds, now it's time for the rest of the world to hear his beautiful voice. I can't wait for his album. All those that write negative comments - get lost! If you don't like Matt then don't buy it, simple as that. But if you are a Matt fan like me then you won't be disappointed with this CD. Best buy ever :)

Not terrible but a watered down version of the Biffy Clyro track from earlier this year. With the right song he has an amazing voice which can soar to notes which are quite remarkable for a male vocalist. If a fan of Matt's performances on the X-Factor it maybe better to buy the CD Single as this includes his versions of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Just The Way You Are & Nights In White Satin.

The title track, 'When we collide", is the only studio track - The remaining three tracks have been lifted from the 'live' X Factor programmes, studio audience participation included. Add to that, the cd insert advertises all the X Factor Tour Dates for another Simon Cowell cost cutting, money making excerise. That said, Matt Cardle is a worthy winner, and as such deserved a better first release than the one studio track and three regurgitated offerings from the TV show. If you are ok with that, buy the CD. I would have waited for the album had I known.

Wow, what an amazing voice this guy has. Although i'm not a huge fan of talent shows, it has to be said that it would have been a sin for Matt to have remained undiscovered. Hats off to the prog that 'found' him, and here's to a very, very long and successful career.
Matts single, "When we collide", is great, but to hear the full range of his amazing vocals just listen to track 3, 'The first time ever I saw your face'. It will move even the most sceptical 'X Factor' critic. Long may you sing, Matt!!

Amazing- and I am a HUGE Biffy Clyro fan too.

Enough with the hate.. the guy knows this is just a cover and he wants to and will write his own stuff as he's being doing for over 10 years now... Yeah, we get it, COOL people wouldn't really like xfactor crap right? Well, I'm a recent convert and Matt Cardle is the ONLY reason.. Never voted before in my life but he was just too good for this show, but I completely understand why he had to take this route... congrats Matt :)

this cd is very disappointing and i do not say that because i am anti X factor or think that other versions of the songs are better but because the tracks have obviously been lifted straight from the X factor. i suppose i should have realised this as the cd is produced so quickly but, for example, 'the first time ever i saw your face' is barely 2 minutes long and although i felt throughout the series ( and, in fact, still do) that Matt has a brilliant and unusual voice this cd does not do him justice. He does sing this song very well but please, when we have the next cd from him, can we have some full length songs so his voice can be fully appreciated and those who supported him are not left feeling let down.
