5.0 out of 5 stars Superb acting, wonderful drama 10 Feb 2009
This must be one of the best drama series the BBC have ever made. The acting is superb, the storylines gripping and realistic to life in England, especially the North East after WW1. Even though Jack is somewhat of a cad and a social climber, there is also canny Jack and kind Jack. The way the story intertwines the other characters, the Seatons, Lady Caroline (although the actress changes during the series) and Horry Manners is nothing short of genius.
A wonderful, wonderful series, I cannot recommend it highly enough and well worth watching again and again.
