An ambitious young New Yorker (Kirsten Bell, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"), disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of those who threw them in: a sausage magnate, a street magician, an adoring painter and a self-admiring model. But when a charming reporter (Josh Duhamel, "Transformers") pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing?

I really don't know why this film is getting such bad reviews, it is after all a rom com, not a documentary about Rome!
For people who like this kind of film, I found it to be as good as many other films in this genre. The story is different to other recent romantic comedies, and I thought it was very funny in parts.
The lead actors, Josh Duhamel and Kristen Bell work perfectly together. The four men in love with Beth are also excellent.
If you're thinking of buying this film then I would advise you to give it a go... if like me you enjoy watching rom coms. Ignore the bad reviews, it doesn't deserve them!

I recently saw this film on Sky Movies not expecting to like it but how wrong I was, I liked it that much that I instantly purchased the DVD the moment the credits were rolling. The film is full of laughter and never has a dull moment, with a certain charm I find both endearing and exceedingly sweet. It's a ROM-COM you can watch again and again and never get tired of laughing at all the outragously funny parts. This is certainly a film I will be watching alot.

Kristen Bell (Heroes, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Las Vegas) are decent actors and convincing in their roles in what is a film with a nice enough concept: a workaholic girl (Bell) in Rome for her sister's wedding picks coins out of a wishing well that represent the love wishes of the coin depositors and hence their love is transferred to her. They follow her back to the US, but is one of her suitors (Duhamel) transfixed because of the coins or because of a genuine love?
It's very predictable rom-com fare, and by no means a classic, but completely inoffensive, with a novel enough spin on the tried and tested cliches to keep it interesting and fun. There are better actors making better comedies, but this isn't the sort of film you'll watch and wish you had the 90 minutes back.

Mindless, contrived and predictable
The lead actors in this movie are fine actors. However, the writers are lazy and unimaginative. If you want a night of mindlessness then choose this movie.
