She thought the mullo was just a myth...she was dead wrong.

Adam Flint's Gypsy visions always guide him to those who need his paranormal gifts. He gets more than he bargained for in Pearl Kizzy, a beautiful spitfire from Liverpool. Adam knows that to save Pearl, he must help her accept her own Gypsy heritage.

Although Adam and Pearl fight their burning attraction for one another, a night of passion sparks memories of their treacherous former lives. Unable to face the loss of Pearl in this century, Adam scrambles for distance from the love of his life. A rejected Pearl falls into the arms of a Mullo - a gypsy vampire - who lays claim to her heart, and her life.

To survive, Adam and Pearl must accept their tragic past, and find a way to kill the undead. * * * * * "This is a deceptively complex story about the power of true love, featuring a scandalously wonderful leading man who will stop at nothing to save his soul mate. Throw in a few devious villains and a secret family legacy, and you have a winning and surprising paranormal romance." ~Bridget, The Romance Reviews

EXCERPT
didn't want Adam to follow me onto the back deck. I couldn't handle his condescending remarks. I just wanted to think, to be alone. But he had followed me.
My sight locked onto the bleak, never-ending ocean crashing against the rocky shore. There was something transfixing about the fluidity of the movement and the meeting of elements, water and earth. The luminous full moon was the only thing to break up the dark storm clouds above.
"Pearl?"
I ignored him. Instead, I reveled in the rain that pitter-pattered on my head and streamed down my face. It felt cleansing, like all the crap I'd dealt the last few days was being washed away with the rain.
He tried to guide me to face him with a gentle hand on my shoulder. I jerked my shoulder at his touch, my focus glued to the rain lashing the surface of the crashing ocean. The storm was picking up momentum and wind began lashing at me. But still I stood staring out to sea.
"Pearl, come out of the rain. You'll catch your death."
A strike of lightening blazed up the sky, a brilliant yellow. Was Mother Nature expressing the fury I felt inside? Was I somehow connected to the storm? It felt that way, and I wanted the sounds of the storm to fill me to the brim, leaving no room for confusion. I looked up at the moon and held out my arms. Take me, storm, take me.
Adam grabbed my hand and dragged me under the deck's roof.
I can't let the ocean call you to its depths. I won't let it happen. I heard what was in Adam's head. No, I felt it. A panic had taken hold of him. It was gut-wrenching; his heart was pounding hard and fast. It felt as though he'd lost someone to the sea, a loved one.
"What the hell?" I maneuvered to face him--his arms were still wrapped tight around me. I wiped the sodden hair away from my face and stared up at him. The sense of familiarity flooded me again, and I yearned to bask in the comfort that comes with such closeness. A desire to place my head on his chest and to wrap my arms around him filled me, but I resisted for fear of being pushed away.
"Have you ever met someone for the first time, but in your heart you feel as if you've met them before?"
"Yes," he said. Adam gazed into my eyes, his expression soft and concerning.
"What do you think it means?"
"Dunno."
I loved the vibration of his thoughts. They traveled through me as though they belonged to me. It made me feel close to him. Being with him was like being with an old friend. Frosty ass comments and all, I wanted to take comfort in him and could resist no more. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head into his chest. It felt like home. He felt like home.

I really enjoyed this book it's probably a 4.5/5 for me :)

This is the first book I've ever read where the main character is of Gypsy heritage, throw in the supernatural aspects of Ghosts, Mullo, past lives and it was a really enjoyable read. Lots of action, betrayal, twists and love. Everything you need for an enjoyable read.

I couldn't put it down once I started, I can't wait to see where the series takes us next!

Deceptively complex story about the power of true love 30 Jan 2011
By Carole "The Romance Reviews" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a deceptively complex story about the power of true love, featuring a scandalously wonderful leading man who will stop at nothing to save his soul mate. Throw in a few devious villains and a secret family legacy, and you have a winning and surprising paranormal romance.

Pearl Kizzy is a Brit in California, a student living with a crazy roommate and a woman with a positive talent for ending up with the wrong kind of man. At the opening of the story, she is on her way to her first date with Evan, who seems to be the very answer to her relationship issues. He is handsome, polite, and apparently about as clean-cut as can be. But when her walk is interrupted by a hopelessly attractive--and positively dangerous-looking--stranger, warning her to be on her guard, it appears that nothing is going to be going as planned.

Things only get stranger after Pearl receives a pendant that carries a strange power she cannot understand, and a book that seems to carry secrets about her family. Wherever she goes, she finds that Adam, her devastating "Mr. Mysterious", is right by her side, as if there is nowhere else on earth he could possibly be. And the pull that she feels towards him is odd...as if something in her soul knows who he really is...

What she cannot know is that Adam knows far more about her, and about Evan, than she could possibly imagine. He has cheated death itself to protect Pearl, and though he knows he can never be with her, he is willing to die all over again to save her from the ancient evil that is relentlessly pursuing her and her legacy.

It's very tricky to explain what attracted me to this story without giving a lot of the good bits away. However, I have to admit that I adored Adam from the very moment he sauntered into the story. He has a presence that jumps off the page without him even having to say a word (in fact, his best moments are when he is simply watching over Pearl). The lengths he was willing to go to protect his true love was astounding, and the sacrifices he was willing to make for her absolutely broke my heart. Not only is he sexy and snarky, he is a wonderfully noble hero who is willing to die to save Pearl from the mullo--a type of vampire in gypsy culture--who seeks to claim her. So while I was happy for Pearl's happy ending, seeing Adam's dreams fulfilled was the best part of the story for me.

The only complaint I have is the writing style. I found it difficult at times to follow the dialogue, and there were times when the sequence of events was a little tricky to understand. This was mostly a problem at the very beginning of the book, where a lot of information about Pearl and her relationships are assumed rather than described. I ended up reading several paragraphs twice, especially the scene where Pearl receives the pendant, to make sure I hadn't missed anything. It's worth working through this, though, because when everything is at last revealed, a great many tiny details suddenly make a world of sense. Without giving away the Big Reveal, there are a few characters whose physical descriptions are very telling. If they seem somehow off, I promise there is a reason.

All in all, this was a rewarding read. I enjoyed Pearl's personal strength and fearlessness through all her ordeals, and still can't get enough of Adam. Though I have read stories that deal with similar concepts, none of them had the emotional pull, or the thoughtfulness of this book, and I find that each character has stayed with me even after the last page was read.
