It has been a couple of years since I read a book from Lori Foster and I have to say her writing has definately improved. I found the story much more interesting than the previous books I had read of hers and I like the fact there was a story to this, whereas before it seemed it was more about the sex and the storyline was secondary to that part.

I really loved the characters of Dare and Molly and was completely sucked into the story, and I didnt want to stop reading as soon as I started. I love when the male lead is a take charge hunk of man ;-) but i do also love a non damsil in distress and both characters were perfect for each other.

My only real disappointment was that it was obvious to me who the "bad guy" was and they weren't really evil, just slightly mad and a little disturbed. And I really found the character of Molly's father really unbelievable. I didnt understand why he wasnt worried about the fact she had been kidnapped and why his first question wasn't "is she ok?". He seemed more evil than who the bad guy turned out to be.

I am definately converted back to Lori Foster and will be reading more of her books in the future :)

I was put off by one of the other reviewers and skipped to reading the second book of the series (Trace of Fever) and, as I really enjoyed that I thought I'd give this a try. I am so glad that I did! Some of the subject matter is rather uncomfortable - Dare is the name of our hero (rather a daft name but hey ho!) who is a mercenary rescuing his best friend's sister from sex traffickers and at the same time he finds Molly. She has been kept chained up, starved and beaten - and as she is there he rescues her too - well, he could hardly leave her there. Molly wants to know who had her kidnapped so hires Dare to find the answers and in the process they fall in love - rather lustfully! Molly's father does react oddly (as per the other reviewers comments) but its a fact of life that some people in this world should never be parents - children (and the adults they grow up to be) can be physically and or mentally abused regardless of class, race, religion or wealth.

I enjoyed this book so much I bought the next one, which I also enjoyed. Lori Foster is a good author and tells a good tale. This one is slightly heavier than the other ones of her I have read, but that just adds to the enjoyment. It has meat, salad and dessert. A rounded meal.
