Camp Stag being made up of ex members of a few long lost local bands it's no surprise to hear how clean and crisp their songs sound live. Organ driven, slow burner Matilda, which featured on the last Wrongpop charity compilation, features at the start of their set and is a brilliant soft set up to the rest of the bands more up tempo songs. Each song doesn't necessarily sound like the previous but there is a signature sleek and ambient keyboard noise which brings the rest of the band together. There's not so much chat between songs apart from a bit of promoting for their debut single Sirens, which is unsurprisingly their stand out song of the night. And as the last song finishes with the lyrics `You've got it far too easy London' a line borrowed from one of the finest singer/songwriters of Stoke-on-Trent Andy Gower's This Town, the crowd have been treated to a simple but great show from a band who you might have thought have just finished their 50th show, not their 1st. London might have it easier, but Stoke have Camp Stag and everyone is more than eager to hear or see what comes next.
