Keri Russell (known more for her long hair and baby looks) is just perfect for this role. The story is of a young teen couple (so much in love) that have a baby together. Both still at school, sacrifices have to be made, and she seems to be making most of them. The mothers' of the couple have their own say and interfere (under the 'only trying to help' motto) which causes tensions to mount and an inevitable break-up of the young partnership. This is when the film really gets going. One sues the other and vice-versa for custody of the child, and the tension racks up continually until the final court hearing. I won't go deeper into the plot so as not to spoil your enjoyment, but it ends with a small twist in the tail. As far as teen US romantic dramas go this is a cut above average. Keri Russell plays her role of teenager mother very well but is just a little too self-assured for a person so young in this situation. However, perhaps she's just mature for her age. She has a very supportive mother (so understanding) that sticks with her through thick and thin. It is refreshing to have a thought provoking rather than tear-jearking ending, so no need for the tissues. A good watch as long as you accept how the film makers usually gloss over the true daily realities of bringing up a child - let alone as a single young mother. In my opinion this warrants a solid 7 out of 10 for entertainment and 9 out of 10 for value.
