Why it would seem futile to review a CD which is unlikely to ever be available again, it would be monumentally sad for this album not to be recognised for it's merits.
Like much of early CUD this album has long since been deleted and my copy has long since worn out. When orginally released the Vinyl A-side contained a narrative in the Childrens Film Foundation voice-over(as copied on St. Ettiene's recent "Finistere") which neatly linked each 3 minute blast of CUD's trademark frenetic wit.
Carl's popping Elvis-style vocals rise above the twanging guitar and bass and the relentless cowbell. "Only a Prawn", "When in Rome" and "Bibi" probably being the most typical tracks, "Alison Springs" probably the highpoint, although like all good albums it is impossible to pick out a favourite.
Frantic, witty, hugely influential and they would have got away with it too if it hadn't been for those meddling kids.
