This is a sensational album, one of the very best of the disco era. Deniece's voice is so suited to the material, it is just made to go over a dance beat. At the same time she can be very affecting in slower numbers, like Touch me again, where her decorations to the vocal line raise it to the sublime. Her voice sounds a bit like a rubber band at times, particularly in this song, being stretched as it gets louder with a slightly harsher edge, but never really big, and then subsiding as the tension is released. It is just beautiful! The disco stompers are superb - I've got the next dance is guaranteed to work the dance floor up to a frenzy, while When love comes calling and I found love are also utterly irresistible. To listen to the whole sequence works as a marvellous affirmation of life - this was a magical phase in the development of dance music that I think, sadly, has come down to something more banal in the present.
