Product Description

An extraordinary moment in time is captured in this enlightening new film, which follows three characters working on the frontline of China's foray into Africa.

Described by The Times as '"a rare grass roots view into one of the most important economic challenges of our age'", 'When China Met Africa' takes us to the grass-roots of globalisation to reveal the expanding footprint of a rising global power. This captivating portrait from award-winning filmmakers Marc Francis and Nick Francis (Black Gold), points to a radically different future, not just for Africa, but also for the world.

Not for the ignorant 11 April 2012
If you've already made your mind up from the basis of western media that China is the root of all evil in the world then don't even bother watching this. Your mind will not be able to cope with the influx of non-biased information. For me this film is a welcome surprise in the world of China watching. Unbiased (no voice over narrative telling you what to think about certain situations in the film) and insightful it allows you to see the reality of what is going on between China and African nations... a business transaction.

Rather than paint this transaction as a careless, manipulative and one sided exploitation of African people as so many cliché reporters and individuals so like to do, When China Met Africa provides what I like to call "eye facts" leaving you with the ability to reach a conclusion much unlike most documentary films which provide their own...

Intelligent, open minded, willing to accept facts??? Then this is a film you should see.

The premise of the film - showing the reality of the meeting of Chinese and Zambian dreams and aspirations is interesting, but the end product fails to deliver.
