Janette Oke opens a whole new world up for the Christian -Historical Fiction reader in this book. Elizabeth Thatcher is like every dedicated teacher, only wanting the best for her students and a little adventure in her life along the way. Immediately arriving in Calgary Elizabeth meets her brother's handsome friend, Wynn Delaney and resolves he is very attractive but not worth the fuss over. She refused to marry in this year of teaching. But Wynn's resolutions of not marrying are even stronger causing Beth to fall for him even harder and trying even more to get him to change his mind.

A most enthralling book about Beth who gave up a comfortable life to go out West and start a school for settlers children.
It is an insight into the difficulties that befell her ,and the romantic side of the story with a Mountie is interesting without detracting from her integration into a different but welcoming community.

Great book. Written in a beautiful style. It felt like I was there in the prairies. Found it difficult to stop reading.

Not terribly well written, to be fair fairly rubbish. No plot, a lot of bible touting, can't say I remembered what it was all about for more than 1 hour after I turned off my Kindle. I do remember though that it seemed to have no real end.

This book is really good. It gives a glimpse into what life was like in Canada in the 1800s. The love story is a bit obvious, it has a good Christian message.
