Book Description

30 July 2004
Bruce Kelly has spent most of his life helping people who are down on their luck, guiding them toward making better lives. Compassionate and kind, Bruce understands that everyone makes mistakes, even if he's never actually done anything just colour inside the lines. Nobody's perfect, but Bruce is about to meet a woman who's perfect for him. He's determined to show her that he can be trusted. And if that means proving it by being an absolute gentleman at all times, then so be it. Cyn Potter is a survivor, with a sassy, gallows wit and a fierce independent streak to show for it. She's used to men wanting only one thing, and this girl is no longer taking applications from big bad wolves in sheep's clothing, thank you very much. But Bruce Kelly is actually different. Totally hands off. Sometimes she can se a hint of fire when he looks at her, but the guy treats her with the respect she's always wanted. Maybe too much respect, because truthfully? The guy is fine. Worth taking down a few defences for...and a few other things. And maybe somebody needs to help Bruce start over and discover just how perfect being imperfect can be

4.0 out of 5 stars Visitation Reigns Supreme! 30 Aug 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I must admit to being a fan of the Visitation series that started with Say No To Joe? and concluded with Jamie. I didn't read them in order the first time round but have now made amends and added this to my book collection!

This book is about Bruce who is a preacher that settles in Visitation to be nearer to his twin brother Bryan (the bounty hunter - but that's a different story!). While travelling he meets up with Cynthia (Cyn) and his do-gooder instincts aren't the only things aroused.

This is a very unusual book as the heroine is a prostitute. I was rather shocked at first but the background and subsequent information that we are given does a good job of rationalising this and in Bruce we do have a very understanding hero. That's not to say that Bruce is a doormat - he comes across as empathic rather than pathetic! It helps that Cyn is so young and has already left that part of her past behind.

I really enjoyed this - the dialogue was often snappy and the confusion over Cyn meeting the wrong twin is quite good too.

I enjoyed this book although some parts of the story were a bit unbelievable!! Not Lori's usual "hot and steamy" style but I enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars an amazing story of survival and healing, against all odds. 9 Sep 2005
By Donna K. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Based on my (admittedly limited) previous experience with Lori Foster's books, I was expecting another light-hearted and funny basic chick-lit story. Wow - did this book deliver so much more than that, with a deep story of substance!

Cyn admirably escapes a childhood of neglect and abuse by running away at age 17. She survives the next five years supporting herself the only way she knows how - by selling her body. With fierce determination, she saves enough money within 5 years to move to small-town North Carolina and reinvent herself, find an honest job, become a productive member of society, make friends and fall in love with the town's understanding and nonjudgmental preacher. Her relationship with Bruce is threatened because it's difficult for her to trust any man, and she feels unworthy of the love of a good man. Cyn's abuser eventually catches up with her, and starts stalkin, threatening and tormenting her. With the love and support of Bruce, and the protection of the entire community, including a mysterious clairvoyant character, Cyn finally finds safety and much deserved happiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars You're In For A Treat!!! 27 July 2004
By Kristi Ahlers - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
At first I was not sure I was going to like this book. Why you ask after all it's Lori? Truth was I was not sure I was going to be able see Cynthia and Bruce together but...I had nothing to fear. Ms. Foster managed to make be believe that these two very, very different people were able to fall in love.

As stated by a previous reviewer Ms. Foster's trademark sesuality was toned down a bit. Cyn is an ex-prostitute and Bruce is a preacher. Cyn has come from a very abusive life and Bruce is just the man to help her make a new life for herself. Ms. Foster was true to her character's and this has been my favorite out of the series so far.

We get to see Joe and Luna as well as Shay and Bryan again when we visit Visitation. Jamie Creed is also very much active in this story and as a result this was a great page turner that I took on the road with me to Poland. I highly recommend Ms. Foster. You will never be let down by this author and I look forward to the next in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner from Foster 27 Aug 2004
By Emma - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Generally, I've never read a Lori Foster book I didn't like, some are better than others but they all have a great spark between the couples and Bruce and Cyn are no different.

Cyn is a woman running from a tragic secret who's decided to give up her life as a hooker and head to Visitation to start her new, clean life.

She meets Bruce (who we meet in Secret Life of Brian), a preacher who saves her from an altercation with an angry trucker.

Immediately there are sparks but what makes this book so wonderful is that instead of rushing into the sexy heat that Foster does so well, the chemistry builds slowly, both because Bruce is a preacher and because he respects and understands that Cyn's past dictates that he take things slow with her.

The drama was good, we saw all of the great citizens of Visitation again and Foster delivers a story that is sexy and funny and sweet.
