This is a most unusual book and I loved it. It's nothing like any other book you'll have read but it's most like Gormenghast because it creates a world which is parallel to the real world and a war that isn't historically true but easily could be. The Master and other characters are very unusual and all in all, it's a strange and wonderful book. Anyone who wants to read something fascinating and unusual ought to try it. Good for boys, too!
