This review is from: The Wheel's Still in Spin: A Coalminer's Mahabharata (Stardust and Coaldust - A Coalminers Mahabharata) (Paperback)
The second part of David Douglass's autobiography is as entertaining as the first part, painfully honest and hilariously funny at the same time.Life in the north of England and working in the Doncaster pits is portrayed in clear harsh light without any romanticising. The political journey of the youth to the man including stand up arguaments with a certaine Mr Castro (Raul not Fidel) in Cuba and with fellow miners in the dark seams under Stainforth and Hatfield. From the dreaming spires of Oxford to the cramped pit cage, this is truly enlighting read leaving the reader ready for part three.
