3.0 out of 5 stars Children's songs with a twist 10 Jan 2011
By K. Wright VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
"The Wheels On The Bus Go Round The World," contains 25 tracks ideal for pre-schoolers. All the tracks are familiar sing-a-long rhymes but where this CD differs from other similar titles is the fact that each track features a particular instrument and is played in a specific style. For example 'A Sailor Went to Sea' features the accordian in a Sea Shanty syle. Whilst most of the songs work, sometimes it isn't obvious what the 'style' is, particularly for young children. Nontheless it is an entertaining collection of songs which could inspire a young childs interest in songs and instruments.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for children, not annoying for adults 14 April 2010
By The Soft Machine Operator TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
My daughter likes music and songs, but too many children's albums feature awful arrangements of songs with cheap sounding drum machines and are musically bland. This is great fun, being a collection of classic songs played in different styles. Well played and sung, this is unique in that it didn't irritate me intensely after two songs. Good for getting children used to different styles and sounds of music. Well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars BIG HIT WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD 15 April 2010
By Crafty Marie TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This CD was a massive hit with my 3 year old - even to the point where she asks to put this CD on instead of the television.

At 40 mins in length and with 25 fairly well-known songs, it is tremendously good value for money.

The style of the music I find to be quite bizarre. Each song is played in a different style which is supposed to reflect music around the world. Some of the songs I find hilarious but my daughter sings and dances along as if it's the latest pop music. Hubby and I both agree that we prefer the songs played in a traditional style and not jazzed up as they have been here.

But even though I don't love it myself, it isn't irritating to listen to and my daughter loves it. So I rate it based on what she thinks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and Clear 12 April 2010
By Clare VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The sound on this CD is very clear and the children I played this for (3 1/2yrs and 17months) really enjoyed it.
There are 25 songs on the CD each played with different kinds of instruments and sung in different styles (hence the Round the World in the title.) Also in some songs the words have been altered slightly to reflect the multi cultural theme of the CD. The insert in the CD tells you what instruments and style is being used to allow you to talk about it easily with your child.

The Wheels on the Bus - guitars - country and western
Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush - dulcimer - european folk
A Sailor Went to Sea - accordian - sea shanty
Head,Shoulders,Knees and Toes - tuba - oompah band
Down by the Station - steel drum - trinidad
Eenie Meenie Mackeracka - mixed percussion - african
Hey Diddle Diddle - accoustic guitar - irish folk
Incy Wincy Spider - finger cymbals - middle eastern
One, Two, Buckle My Shoe - djembe - west african
Jack and Jill - maracas - brazillian
Pat-a-Cake - spanish guitars - spanish
Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat - cor anglais - royal court
The Grand Old Duke of York - snare drums - marching band
She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain - guitars - bluegrass
Dance to Your Daddy - uillean pipes - irish
Waltzing Matilda - digeridoo - australian
1,2,3,4,5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive - jaw harp - country folk
Polly Put the Kettle On - sitar - indian
I'm a Little Teapot - gamelan - indonesian
One Potato, Two Potato - marimba - guatemalan
Frere Jacques - accordian - french folk
Harry Whistle - piano - lullaby
If All the World was Apple Pie - celeste - french lullaby
Now the Day is Over - cello - austrian lullaby

Being the mother of a toddler who loves to sing off key versions of 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' amongst other songs a CD of beautifully sung nursery rhymes is always a bonus to play during quiet times. This BBC audio CD is 40 minutes long and includes such classics as 'Here we go round the mulberry bush', Hey diddle diddle, Incy wincy spider and 'I'm a little teapot' so pretty much the repoitore of any playgroup or nursery class. From personal experience some of the words seem a little different to the ones I'm used to but I suppose it's not an exact science. There's a fair amount of trying to make this collection a bit 'world musicish' so expect bizarre drumming in certain tracks!

The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so they say and my son kept repeating "more, more!" which can only be a good thing. A great CD for sticking on in the car or when you're trying to wean your little ones away from the lure of the TV. I like to sing along to it too, which is nice if you like that kind of thing....

4.0 out of 5 stars Kids Love To Sing Along 28 May 2010
By A. Rose TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
All good well known nursery songs, there were just two I wasn't sure of but quickly picked them up. From an adult perspective the music was insipid and wishy-washy and with passable singing. From a kiddies viewpoint they loved and know all the songs, found it great to join in singing in the car and wanted it again when the CD ended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kids like it so it must be good 19 May 2010

I am no expert on childrens sing a long CD's, but my kids are and they seem to enjoy this.

While the songs are your run of the mill faves they have been jazzed up a little with various different instruments to accompany each one.

4 stars.
