not sure about the top books except for George Martin, but right on the money about the bottom 4; Eddding/Goodkind/Jordan all absolute garbage; haven't read Newcomb, thank goodness

Funny. I've just bought Eddings series. Somehow through all the moving previously they got lost. So I've just ordered all 12 (Belgariad, Mallorian and the two companions). Why those are regarded as "crap" I can't understand. Eddings is a great and witty read.
