Product Description

Review

`Brilliantly enjoyable novel about rival sisters and surrogate parenting - quite unlike anything we've read in ages. Put it on your bedside table now . . . What's Yours Is Mine is a fab fusion of beach-read and bonkbuster, with a unique and gripping plot.' --Heat

`Stimson's prose is razor sharp, and she pulls no punches when taking on the tricky subject of sibling rivalry - depicting family love at its cruelest and kindest.' --Glamour

`What's Yours is Mine is the latest brilliant book from Tess Stimson.'
--The People

`Forget the fluffy girl-meets-boy stuff, Stimson writes about flawed characters in difficult situations and tops it off with twists that will pull your jaw in the dropped position. Edgy, funny, unpredictable - this is top class chick-lit for women who like it real.'
--Daily Record

Book Description

A story of sisters who share just a little too much. Like a princess in a fairytale, Grace Hamilton has been showered with blessings: professional success, a happy marriage, and she even lives in a beautiful castle. But the only thing she really wants - her heart's desire - is the one thing she can never have. Her sister, the beautiful Susannah, has made a mess of her life. Like a reverse Midas, everything she touches turns sour. But Fate puts Grace's future in Susannah's hands, changing the balance of power between the sisters forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is mine! 25 Mar 2011
By Chloe S "Chick Lit Chloe" TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
The story begins by introducing us to the sisters that are Grace and Susannah. I really liked Grace at first - she is successful, happily married but desperate to be a mother. I feel Stimson captures her despair at not being able to have a child perfectly, and the way this is handled in the book is really good and quite touching in parts. We aren't told much about why the sisters are on such bad terms until quite a way into the book so its a bit of a mystery but I enjoyed this because I was eager to uncover what happened between them to make the situation so bad. Susannah on the other hand is a character I really didn't like but warmed to her throughout the book and by the end, I really did like her character.

The way the relationship and the story between the sisters unfolds is really intriguing and I love the mysterious feel that Stimson manages to keep throughout the novel. Just when you think you have guessed what is coming next, something else suddenly pops up and has the book hurtling in a completely different direction. What I loved a lot about this book was the writing style. Stimson writes from the viewpoints of mainly Grace and Susannah, although there are a couple of other chapters narrated by others too. As well as the alternate narration, the two narrations overlap to show the scenario from both sides and this makes it so interesting because it puts such a different spin on it, and I love this about Stimson's work.

The whole feel of the book is very dark, so don't be fooled by its beautiful pink and black cover! It's definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing, there are some dark scenes in there and theme of surrogacy and adoption isn't what you'd be led to believe, and I loved the twists and turns along the way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great... 26 Jun 2010
By Jae79
Format:Paperback
I have to say the attraction in this book for me was the lovely cover and i expected this to be a fun romp....this book actually has some pretty serious undertones and delves in some long standing family politics. One of my main issues with this book (resulting in only 3 stars) is I did not like either of the main characters very much....Susannah being completely irresponsible and Grace just being a spoilt madam....I couldn't relate to either character and therefore found that by the ending I didn't really care what the outcome was. Maybe not liking either character was intentional of the author as it showed each girls flaws and the pity of the situation they found themselves in. If you want a fun, lighthearted book to read on the beach don't be fooled by the girly cover...it reminded me more of a Jodi Picoult book than other Tess Stimson novels I have read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really easy enjoyable read... 11 July 2010
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed this book. I only gave it 4 stars as it became obvious in parts what was going to happen. I liked the way each chapter was written by each of the characters, and some content overlapped from one character to the the next, it was interesting to read the different reactions to the scenarios. Grace and Susannah couldn't be more different as sisters. Susannah is irresponsible and carefree whilst Grace is conservative and a planner. The plan they come up with was always bound to bring out the worse in each sister. But overall a very good book. Definately reccomend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fab Book 11 Nov 2012
By Chips
Format:Paperback
My Husband got me this book from on here, at first i thought 'bet this will be boring' as i had just finished reading the Fifty Shades collection. How wrong i was, this book had me interested right the way through. I like the way each chapter is based on the thoughts of each individual character and full of twist and turns. I really didn't know how this story was gonna end. Great book and worth the read. (oh and well done husband great choice)

5.0 out of 5 stars Chick lit with an edge 14 July 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
One of the reasons I particularly like Tess Stimson's books is that they are more than just a 'fun, frothy read'. There is an edge to her stories which I find engaging and compelling. True, not every character is essentially likeable but, for me, this only adds to the depth of her writing. I dislike the term `chick lit' for its pejorative connotations, however if you like your books to be chick lit with an edge then I highly recommend Tess Stimson.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pure drivel... 31 May 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I read 'The Cradle Snatcher' and thought it was ok but I almost gave up on this one just 2 chapters in. I found the writing appalling, especially the narrative of the character 'Susannah'. It felt to me like I was reading a badly written US cop show and I could have screamed at the over-use of the word 'inked'!! I am really surprised that this has received such rave reviews given that the 2 main characters are so unlikelable. I hate giving up on a book, but this is truy awful and I don't really care what happens. Sorry Tess, but I won't even be taking this to the charity shop in case anyone actually wastes their time reading this, it's going straight in the recycling.
